I'm home...again!!

I just flew in from London, and boy are my arms tired! (Buh-dump-bump!). Thanks Henny.

So yeah, went over for three days for a job interview. Can't disclose more than that now but hopefully it will work out for me. It is still a sailing job. Didn't really have time to do much sightseeing, but did make it along the Embankment where the Millenium Wheel is located (along with a LOT of mimes), saw/heard Big Ben, and a couple of other places. Lugged home about 50 pounds of books (British version of Harry Potter series for a friend of my gf), never do that again. Now I have to recover, even though it's only a 6 hour time difference I feel worse than when I have to deal with a 10-12 hour difference. My AWR header is supposed to be here tomorrow so that might perk me up some!

no'one but me, you and gary know who Henny Youngmen are....you just lost 9/10's of your audience.

AWR header? for what??

How long you home for now?

Welcome home again. I love London.
Good luck with the job.

C'mon Matty, give the younger generation some credit. I'm sure some of them have heard of one of comedy's greats. If not, then it's up to us to enlighten them.

AWR's for the Protege. I'm home until mid-November unless this new job pans out, then I might be back to work sooner. On the plus side it is a three month rotation.

Thanks Gary. London is pretty cool, I've flown through a number of times but never had the chance to get around. One big thing in its favor is the fact everyone speaks English! I would advise anyone going over to avoid Gatwick airport, the back-up for checking in was terrible.

kargoboy August-11th-2007 09:25 AM

Checking in at Heathrow is no better. There are always huge lines for international flights. While the TSA can be an invasive pain in the 'arse' here, they make European airport security seem like a visit to grandma's house.

But the coolest thing when I was there--other than the historic sites, of course--was working around the cargo area at Heathrow. The building I was working in was right in line with one of the main runways and every morning the place would shake like San Francisco when the Concorde was landing.

Just got an update, apparently I impressed with my interview. Now we are just waiting for things to be finalized between the company and my union, then I will hopefully be offered a Chief's job. Back at the top of the food chain once more!

Chief huh? Well the name sure does fit :)

P.S.

no'one but me, you and gary know who Henny Youngmen are....you just lost 9/10's of your audience.
I have no clue who you guys are talkin about ..

Yeah, as an engineer I am pretty literal-minded.

As for Henny, you get a little slack since you weren't born here. Still, have you ever heard the joke "Take my wife...please"? That was him. King of the one-liners.

eggynatey August-24th-2007 02:39 PM

I dunno about that...For me, it's a tossup between Henny and Rodney. Both make me ROFL.

Welcome home and good luck with the job, Cheif!
