I wanna move to Nevada....

Hell yeah, this is what I'm talkin' bout....

LEGALIZE IT

This would be sooooo so fresh, and Oregon would be right on their heels.

Dude. I am there.

turbonium959 Aug 14, 2002 11:40 PM

Move to Maine. Its the best place to live anyway, and the pot is already legalized (as medicine)!!!!

Sweedenhouse Aug 15, 2002 12:17 AM

Yeah but dude, being legal for medicinal purposes ain't the same. I haven't been sick for almost 6 years now. And I wanna be able to blaze up without having to worry about good ole onetime riding my ass.

I dont understand what the deal would be if its legalized...i do it in my house and no one knows. If it were legalized in florida...i still doubt that i'd smoke out while driving or while doing my laundry. I dont think it should be legalized....that way it wont be "just another thing" u know what i mean? whatever...either way i still toke up sometimes and even if its legalized...i wont abuse it. peace

Yeah I feel ya man, but I just hate it when people think you;re some kind of bad person, or a drug addict just cause you like to fire up the whacky tobacky. And perhaps legalizing it will help change people's image of weed smokers. I mean there are buisness people, and people of power who drink alcohol, or smoke cigarettes, and they are not condmened for those actions. But I guaranteee you shit would hit the fan if someone found out they blazed. I mean I'm not gonna stop smokin even if its legal or not, I would just like for some people's image of so called "stoners" to change in a more positive manner. Heh but then again, I never have really cared too much about what people think of me, so whatever. I just think it ouwld be cool to be chillin in your house with an ounce chillin on the coffee table and not have to worry about who walks in your front door.

ZoomZoomH Aug 15, 2002 10:35 AM

bunch of tree hugging, pot smoking hippies :squint:

Nuder Aug 15, 2002 10:39 AM

good point sweedenhouse...but i also have to say that unfortunatly...you know, people who smoke out make that image themselves, or at least little gits who smoke out. Like in high school smoking pot is soooo cool and you just HAVE to say "Dude i'm so stoned" or shit like "nah man i dont remember, hahahaha damn i'm such a burnout"....stupid ass shit like that. Most people get the impression that its pot that does that to you, but in reality its WHO does it. I go to University, i have a good gpa, i make good money, and i can hold an intellectual conversation with someone....and yet i smoke out. But you'll never see me say crap like that. peace

Yes, but, since it is currently illegal now for you, your "purchases" actually do support illegal networks and help line the pockets of folks making $$$ w/o paying any taxes on it. What's far worse, additionally, is that as a taxpayer, you and everyone else is also paying for the enforcement of these "crimes" (DEA, Local Cops, State Cops, Reservists, Coast Guard, etc.) Further, then we have to prosecute the offenders ($$$) and then finally, incarcerate them ($$$)...

I think the statistic of drug criminal arrests has 88% being users - rather than manufacuring or selling offenses. Furthermore, other studies have shown a 20:1 benefit increase of treatment options v. Law enforcement option. Thus it is actually better and more prudent to offer treatment to drug users rather than to declare them criminals and treat them accordingly. Interestingly, the Nevada Sheriffs Assoc. upports the legalization in their State since it will free up th cops to do other, more pressing issues such as actual crimes that involve victims.

In the instance of NV, why legalize? Well it becomes a revenue source (can be taxed) while remediating the former revenue drain (enforcement).

IMO, if everyone who chose to imbibe were able to produce their own, then these folks would have a larger disposable income (since they aren't purchasing), and thus, would lead to more spending power (sorta like "W's" tax-cut) by the public.

Unfortunately a truism is that the networks that do facilitate smuggling don't stop w/ drugs. Once these networks exist and are in place, then the commodity becomes irrelevant. Look at Prohibition and the rise of the Mafia - their beginnings were the "Rum Runners" and Speak Easys that pandered to the demand. Though prohibition ended, we are still dealing with the organizations that subsequently developed. Unfortunately, the legacy will continue long after decriminalization of drugs, though ideed, legalization is overdue and logical on many levels.

BTW, move to Canada, the Beaster is pretty good!!!
