i too am saying good-bye

Well Monday I was faced with a decision. After driving a BMW I was detailing for a few days I fell in love. It was a black 323i with sport and premium package and coming out of a Protege to a Bimmer... hooooooly. Well I went to Southpointe BMW and test drove a 2000 white 323i with 23,000 miles and knew I had to have it. They wanted $25K for it and I offered $23,500 without mentioning my trade and they took it. After it I was written up I decided to tell them I would be trading in my 2003 Protege ES with turbo and custom intercooler as well as a 1999 Pro ES with it. So they gave me $16K for the '03 and $6500 for the '99. That's all I needed and was out the door losing money on both like hell and $2,000 poorer.. you know what though.. I don't regret it one bit! I'll be back once in a while to see what's going on still because I am part of the Mazda family in a way, my mom has an '03.5 protege5. But as of now.. I will be joining the "other side" where my dad also belongs. Well I hope everyone enjoys they're Proteges!

*must resist temptation to test drive BMW*

wow, 23k for a 323i...too expensive imo. but glad you got
something you want. :)

a 323 down here has a reatil value of $26,760 with the sport package, premium package, real leather, moonroof, 2.5L inline six.. but even if its not worth that much according to Kelley Blue book, drive one and believe me its worth whatever they want for it. BMW's have a distinctive ride and feel to them that you'd have to appreciate no matter who you are. Its a damn nice car for $2K (what i paid out of pocket) and has soo much more potential then the little 4cyl. protege.. already have dinan chip on order as well as exhaust. Some people say waste, I say "drive one and you'd understand."

Hmmm....
here's an old one:
Does anyone know the difference between a BMW and a porcupine?

mixmaster_matt June-13th-2003 11:58 AM

On a porcupine the pricks are on the outside!!!!!!!!

All in good fun....

Anyways, congrats on the car and lets see some pics.

Well, going from a Mazda to a BMW is not that weird. I, though, went from a Mazda to a BMW to a Mazda. Had a 94 Miata (great car) and moved to a BMW M Coupe (not a M3 Coupe, very nice car) and now own a Pro5. Needed something more practial then the Coupe and with the cost difference, I bought a '69 Camaro :D

I will have pics up as soon as the new exhaust is on and then chip too! i need to find some way to get rid of the crappy DSC.. its getting in the way of my fun! haha peace
