I dislike the rain..
I was driving along and I go to brake and turn into the neighborhood when I feel the front wheels lock up and start sliding, so i then let of the brakes and try to get into the street without flying into the SUV waiting to pull out, or slide into the ditch....
all this talk about wrecking is like a chain reaction!! rain = evil anyone else have sliding probs? |
Not this winter, but last winter I almost died when it was raining. I was going through a slight curve on the highway and I must've hit an oily spot or something but my car did a 180 going like 60 and I was scared SHITLESS!
|
Move to the southwest. Here in the Las Vegas valley we average 4.5 inches of rain a year!...
|
i love hitting puddles. but outside of driving, my favorite kind of days are very cloudy before it rains/pouring rain. i can just sit outside and get poured on and not care.
|
I normally like rain, but when I have to dodge everyone else and try to make things quick...it sucks
|
Quick and Rain usualy doesn't mix.
It just started raining here this month. Should be done in about 4 months. At least it's green. Gotta love the Pacific NW. |
middle of summer here... no rain for next 3 to 4 months hehe... well noffin major anyway...
gonna party up this summer hehehe.... i dont mind the rain sometimes... but yes havin to avoid the people who think they can drive like Schumacher is very annoying |
Tire problems?
I never have problems with rain [since switching tires] and believe me, we get rain here! |
Thing is, the tires are actually pretty new, Im wondering if its these roads, some of our neighbor hood roads are horrible, and the new ones my tires stick just fine
|
Well usually the first 30 minutes of rain are the worst, since that is when all the surface oils are making a mess of the roads. Wait a little while before driving and hopefully the rain will wash all the yuck off and you'll have a little better traction.
|
I wish I could find some larger rims and some better tires for my car, but I cant find crap for a 1st gen, and what I do find is pricey, so I just stick with what the parents tell em to put on there..
|
Larger is not always better...especially on our underpowered Proteges. My 18s are big, heavy, and they are t3h suck for driving on. It's like dragging extra dead bodies around.
My car is actually at it's most peppiest on the stock 16s, but I have the good tires on the 17s...hrrrrrrrrrmmmmm.... |
I wasnt thinking 18s, I know that anyhting 18 and 19 or 20's would cause alot of Drag
I was thinking 16 or 17s, b/c I thik i have like 13 or 14... anyhting better than what I hav enow.. |
i'm just glad i have ABS. you can pump the brakes to get better braking response. but if you're hydroplaning you need better tires and drive slower. if you have stock 13" then 15 or 16 might be a good size since 17" looks like you might have some problems plus sizing. just check with your local shop or tirerack.com
i upgraded my 16" to 17" and high-performance tires made a big difference in grip. ^_^ |
I dont have any problems- Just because the tires are new doesnt mean alot- I'd suggest www.tirerack.com They have alot of good info on not just tires, but the actual physics of what your tires go through in the autox and in regular street driving. PS IMO dont go any bigger than 16's, or a really nice set of 15's. OK 17's are ok, but on the edge of getting pretty heavy.
