I was that close...

CRAP!!!:(

It was a 99 BMW M3 Silver/Black Leather in perfect condition with 20K Kms (12K miles) for $25K CDN ($17,500 USD). The owner changed her mind and decided not to sell it.

I still have my P5 though...

Someone pass me a tissue...:crying:

funkdaddysmack June-16th-2003 09:05 AM

Wow, that would have been a steal! M3 = drool, but I wouldn't envy your insurance payment!

Lerxst June-16th-2003 09:12 AM

You'd think... but for the exact same coverage...

$200 Deductable
$1,000,000 3rd Party
25% Discount
All Purpose

2002 Mazda Protege5 - $1260CDN /year
1999 BMW M3 - $1452CDN /year

funkdaddysmack June-16th-2003 10:06 AM

Wow, that's awesome... You must be older, or married, or both... I'm paying $900/year for two old cars with like jack coverage.

JAC June-16th-2003 10:27 AM

Sorry to hear that, M3s are the shit.

Lerxst June-16th-2003 10:48 AM

29 single male with full discount... I'm a very good driver:D

We don't have private insurance in Manitoba, so we get pretty good deals, comparatively speaking.

Astral June-16th-2003 03:42 PM

Bah, I'm paying $3150/year here in Mass, USA, and that includes a 5% company (my employer) discount. That's with the largest deductible I could get w/ financing ($500) and coverage (30/70) slightly above the state minimum (20/40).

Then again, I've had my license < 3 yrs, I'm under 23, new car, etc.

Lerxst June-16th-2003 03:51 PM

People in Manitoba bitch about insurance rates... little do they know how lucky they are.

People in Manitoba bitch about insurance rates...
that's because those mennonites are cheap penny pinchers! ;)

doctor_r June-16th-2003 04:28 PM

Ah! Sask is even cheaper... my '02 P5 is $1060 a year $100 deduct...

There is benefits to living in the GAP!!

alcoholiday June-16th-2003 04:39 PM

25K!! holy schmoo!!!

as for the insurance. it was a shock when i moved from sask to alta b/c my insurance tripled on my mustang. now that i'm old and with a clean record it's 2/3 of that cost for two cars.

the US is getting killed on insurance though. thanks injury lawyers.

Bruce95fmla June-16th-2003 07:53 PM

I got a quote for a 2001 acura cl and it was 1205 .. with 500 ded...
I pay 650 or so for the Protege for the year .. so to step up to a CL and pay 1205 is pretty good to me ... but I would have a car payment:rolleyes:

I am 25 , had my license for 10+ years, and single but looking(lol)

That seems to be State Farm's excuse. They sent out a member statement saying they paid more out than in this year. My rates just went up a touch from too damn high to begin with.

jaredspangler June-16th-2003 11:38 PM

Here in AZ, I pay $840 a year with a $500 deductible. I am 23 year old male with a perfect driving record. I have State Farm, and my agent is really cool - Never had any problems. I have full coverage, glass, under and uninsured motorists. However, on my first Protege (2000), I was paying 2600 for the same coverage. I was only 19.
