Finally!

The first playstation 3 commercial to be aired

although it was very wierd, but shows the power this system will have over every gamer

sadly i do not have the link to show it
i just saw it on tv a few seconds ago

any input?

KrayzieFox November-2nd-2006 02:26 AM

PS3 will rock ... too bad it has such a high price tag on it. I won't have one for at least another 2-3 years

Wii all the way man. I'm SO over playstation now....$600 for a console?? They should be ashamed.

KrayzieFox November-2nd-2006 09:57 AM

^ I saw that coming. :Kill2:

The Wii seems great but I just can't get used to Nintendo's controllers. That's pretty much what ruined the GameCube to me. To me the controller is the most important part about the console, since that IS what you use to actually PLAY the game. Everything else is just a bonus, ie. BluRay, WiFi, MiniDisc, etc.

I know there's lots of hype about it being motion sensitive and that is pretty sweet but I really don't think I'm gonna like pointing the controller in the direction I wanna go. I enjoy laying down and having the controller on my lap, not moving at all and being as lazy as possible when playing video games. And I know everyone has their own tastes, but everything Nintendo has come out with since the N64 just hasn't interested me... except the GameBoy SP, they're pretty sweet.

kmaalfiisa November-2nd-2006 09:38 PM

HOLY SH**!!!!
$600!?
g** DAMN thats expensive
i was told it will sell for 450 flat at best buy

looks like ill be waiting a few years also, going to japan next years a bigger priority anyway

Wii is pretty tight, i thought it was very innovative.
but yes, the controllers after the nes and snes got crazy
i can stand the 64, the game cube was waaay different and the Wii?
i think a gennis (sp) world record for different controllers for each system is being saught after LOL!

KrayzieFox November-2nd-2006 10:10 PM

Yea the PS3 is $500 with a 20GB HDD and $600 with a 60GB HDD. The $600 version also has WiFi and Memory stick input also. Either way, not worth it...

phals November-2nd-2006 11:54 PM

Save yourself so much thought and Buy a 360, anything that you can easily play music and video off of a usb flash drive or usb hard drive wins it in my book

Vote 1 for the 360

dudeondacouch November-3rd-2006 05:36 AM

is the PS3 not going to have usb ports? if so i cant imagine it not supporting media playback. really a no-brainer.

KrayzieFox November-3rd-2006 09:06 AM

It has USB, Bluetooth, memory stick/SD/CompactFlash and WiFi.

kmaalfiisa November-3rd-2006 10:11 AM

damn all that for a gaming console
why dont they just market it a CPU tower with media capability and game capability but no windows software or monitor?

whats next, a dvd burner and a car starter for winter days?

dudeondacouch November-3rd-2006 11:41 AM

i hope my office burns the *@%# down

It IS a CPU with media/gaming capability but no OS or monitor.

macdaddyslomo November-3rd-2006 02:31 PM

actually a PC costs less...

Roddimus Prime November-3rd-2006 08:22 PM

I've got my Wii paid for in full along with 9 games from day one. ....if you guys wanna come over and have a party at my place we can. I'm taking off work for 3 days for it.

671_p5 November-4th-2006 06:41 PM

Personally Im goin for the ps3, the price is actually not bad. Blu ray disc players are going for 900 bux for just the player.

steve_protege November-6th-2006 01:54 PM

I think Im going to go with the PS3 as well. Im just going to put mine on layaway at my work and slowly but surely pay it off that way. I have no CCs to put the 600.00 hit on, so layaway is the next best thing for me.

But I did see the commercial and I have to say it looks real good. But at the end of the commercial, it said it was being released on the 7th?? I asked my electronics guy at my work and he said not till the 13th or something? Anyone know when the official release date is going to be? Meaning when the PS3 will hit shelves and be available for sale?

kmaalfiisa November-7th-2006 07:51 PM

not sure
there are mixed dates from here too
one of my friends gets PSM and swears that the PS3's going to be post-poned for a few months due to overheating

i dont know who to believe actually

if you can get the news directly from the manufacture and distributer
i guess you'd know the exacts

Roddimus Prime November-8th-2006 06:34 AM

$600 for a dvd player is inasanity. $600 for a console is insanity $60-100 for games is pure retardation.

People also seem to forget both sony and microsoft are notorious for having hardware shortages AND hardware problems. Everyone is going to go all crazy trying to get a ps3 only to find out it'll be riddled with issues and probably not last a year.

It just blows my mind that people will pay so much money to be shafted by the people who took their money....and them come back for more 4 years later.

KrayzieFox November-8th-2006 08:11 AM

+1 for Matty

Although I'm a fan of PlayStation cuz they have the best games and the most comfy controller, their consoles aren't top notch when they first come out. XBox was the same. However, Nintendo never had those problems!

I always wait a couple years to get the new stuff anyway just cuz I don't feel like paying so much money for somethin that won't be used all that much. And they get all the glitches out ... the PS2 I own was used and abused the first 4 years I had it (I was 15 at the time so you can only imagine ...) and it still works like a charm. The XBox I bought a couple years ago broke after 6 months. The SNES I've had since I was like 8 or 9 still works better than all of them!!

meGrimlock November-9th-2006 10:57 PM

ps3 is a great machine, and no doubt many ps2 fanboys will eat it up as the ps1 fanboys ate up the ps2, but its not without its drawbacks, price being the main factor people bring up. sure youve got an established library, but playing your original ps2 games on it, wont make the ps2 games any more spectacular than they already are. you can still cut a phone book in half with the jagged edge of a ps2 polygon. i think the main problem i have with the xbox and ps is they are trying to become 1-stop replacements. its a great idea, but i already have a dvd player, a dvd burner, internet access, and my last $600 spent on my PC went to playing COD2 at 60fps at 1920x1200 resolution, and that still leaves the hi-def TV free for anyone to use.

the Wii which is essentially a boosted version of the gamecube, seems more like an entertainment centerpiece than a multimedia conglomerate. i'd prefer that and its $250 price tag over the latest and greatest blue-ray compatibility any day. havent you all seen that Wii vs PS3 comparison vid on the internet? i'd take the thin, fun, blonde over the super serious workhorse anyday. not to say i wouldnt mind a PS3 or Xbox 360 in my near future, i'm just patient enough to wait for a couple of price drops.

Roddimus Prime November-10th-2006 09:18 PM

fat girls need lovin' too man.....

you just shouldn't pay as much for them!

On a serious note though, I'm super excited about the Wii. I've taken off work for a few days (put in months in advance). I've got the system and 8 games paid in full...extra controllers and everything. The only thing I need now is a new display....

On black friday walmart (the devil) will be selling a 42" plasma LCD tv for $998. I think I may have to make it mine.

I'd also like to sell my onkyo home theater system and replace it with a Bose 3-2-1. If anyone is interested in an onkyo surround sound system and speakers let me know.

.

plasma or lcd ???

which is it ?

Roddimus Prime November-12th-2006 07:58 AM

d'oh..... plasma. I'm not real techno-savvy.

meGrimlock November-13th-2006 05:22 PM

dude, 42" plasma from wal*mart at <$1000 will look crappier than an angry dragon, and will probably fall apart in less time than it takes to get a background check for buying a gun...the wii doesnt output to HD (last i heard) and plasmas arent very good for daily tv-viewing. get a rear-projection DLP if you can!

kmaalfiisa November-14th-2006 05:10 PM

about that onkyo, where about would a price be set at?
im looking for a computer set up, not sure if a cable is made for your system to be computer capable

meGrimlock November-14th-2006 10:13 PM

depends, there are RCA-to-mini converters, it'll take the standard red/white RCA plugs and convert them to a mini plug so you can use that for the output on your soundcard. or if your soundcard supports COAX or toslink (digital optical), most receivers will have support for those too.

kmaalfiisa November-16th-2006 11:47 AM

wow, yesterday, i drove by circut city and best buy// and they got waiting lines and tents n sh** out front... all that for a gaming system

im thinking these people aint got no lifes to take a few days off and wait outside an electronics store for a game system
and live there untill it comes out!!

meGrimlock November-16th-2006 09:57 PM

friend told me there were at least 30 people waiting outside bestbuy yesterday (nov 15), who wants to wait in line for 2 days straight just to blow $600 + games + accessories + tax (other than the crooks who will sell theirs on ebay), on a piece of hardware that wont play all your already massive library of PS2 games? i guess being 1st on the block to waste your hard earned cash is more important than actually making a living for 2 days straight.

KrayzieFox November-16th-2006 10:45 PM

Only in America ..

Roddimus Prime November-17th-2006 08:46 AM

I just made one phone call to my friend who runs an EB and got a second Wii system. No waiting in line or anything.

The onkyo receiver will need to be packaged very carefully because of it's sensative nature. I'd let it go for $125 shipped. The speakers are another story. They are very heavy duty and the floor speakers are pretty large. About 4.5' feet tall. They have (2) 8" subs, a 6.5" midrange and a liquid filled tweeter. The other 5 speakers are standard satellite speakers and I would do all of them for $60shipped. I can include the mounting brackets I used to hang them on the walls as well.

kmaalfiisa November-18th-2006 06:23 PM

may i see a picture please?
