Does Ford Focus now have a "Sony Limited Edition?"
 

I got off work and saw a ford focus with side decals that state:

Sony
Limited Edition

Is Ford trying to duplicate the same marketing plan as Kenwood and the MP3?

I saw an ad about it too in CandD a long time ago. It has a 400W Mach3? sound system and comes with projector HID which are nice.

ok, so it's a focus and they add a sony sound sys....who would buy that POS?

i spoke with a guy at carlisle this past year, and he said that sony built 6 foci, all with ...100,000 dollars in audio equipment!!!

I believe you're talking about the Focus 'Detroit Techno' Street Edition. They ran ads on TV and in mags for a few weeks in 2000, but I never saw any where I then lived (Utah!).

Could this be where Mazda got the idea for the MP3 :confused: ?

Funny thing is, Sony has been making Ford's HU's for quite some time now, albeit with Ford labels on the outside. The stock HU in my 96 Escort is a Sony. I think they switched to Sony from JVC around the 94 model year.

SONY sucks at making car audio equipment, I think I prefer my stock CD player over that shit.

The Sony Edition was offered in 2001, and the new Mach Audio edition is a 2002, I believe. There was never really a detroit techno edition. I think that was just a marketing gimmick.
