Digital Cameras?
 

Does anyone know anything about Digital Cameras?

i'm not a digital camera junkie...but i've used a few
i guess it all depends what you want
this one you're looking at looks big and bulky to me
just like a polaroid, its amusing to be able to print the picture as soon as you take it, but because this is a digital camera, you can already see the pic without making a print
plus, having a printer in the camera just seems like a pain in the ass...one more thing to go wrong
my opinion is keep it simple and compact

I've always been a Nikon guy....but there are several that are very good now. I've had a Nikon Coolpix 950 for a long time now and love it.
But the best thing to do is go to Digital Photography Review and do some research and side my side comparisons, then go through their reviews. They are the most extensive and non biased reviews you will find. Another type site like that is Steve's Digicams
Spending your time doing research will pay off bigtime.
Let me know if you have sepcific questions about anything, I know alot about the Nikon's and I also had a Kodak, and have used Olympus some.

I did a lot of reading there before I settled on one.

In my case the deciding factor was size. I wanted something that would very easily fit in my pocket so that I would actually take it places with me unlike my nice SLR which sits on a shelf because I do not like lugging it around.

I really want the option of printing photos on the spot, it seems like I could make use of that fuction. But I also want a great picture.
How many megapixels shoud I look for? :dunno:

2.1 megapixels or better
 

At the very minimum for good printed images a 2.1Megapixel. At least that is what I think.

I agree with JJB. Just remember most of the cameras with the printer aren't printing very good quality and very small prints.....it's maybe 1.5-2x the size of what you can look at on the LCD. But it all depends, if you really do need to print right there, not just show them on the LCD and email it to them when you get home, then yeah go for it...otherwise grab an Epson Stylus Photo printer and do some serious lab quality printing when you get home.

Im not a digital camera junky, but I did a little research when I was shopping for my camera. I decided to go with the HP 315, since it had a $100 buck rebate, and the reviews where pretty good. Its my first digital camera and Ive been happy with it. It doesnt take "out of this world" pics, it was only $149 bucks... Here is a good site

I really wanted to buy the Sony MVC-CD200, but I couldnt afford it at the time, plus it doesnt have a viewfinder. Definatly buy a camera with a viewfinder, if you use the preview screen to much, you will be replacing batteries every hour or so. Make sure you buy rechargeable batteries . They may cost twice as much as regular batteries, but the will last 100x as long. Plus they last 2x as long on one charge. NiMH are the best. Hope this helps, have fun shopping ;)
