come from NM to VA?

I need your help. I purchased a 2003 Protege ES in September of 2004. All stock, or so I thought...turns out the tint on the vehicle is 110% illegal! Why didn't the dealer take care of that before making it available for sale is anybody's guess. I was pulled over by a cop specifically because he thought my tint was too dark. Now I am fined and I have to remove the tint before my court date. (VA law says 50% of the light must show thru the front door windows, and 35% in the rear door windows.....his tint meter said i had 15% of light showing thru all around).

Here's what I need. If you are/or know the owner of the silver Protege and you sold it/traded it to a Toyota dealer in Northern Virginia, please PM me. I am at your mercy. I am going to bring this to court and get the dealer involved in small claims, but I need your help to prove that I did not purchase the tint after I purchased the car.

Please PM with your name/contact info, and I know this is busted, but please include what the mileage of the car was when you sold/traded it, and what dealership you originally purchased the car. Thank-you!

update: i got the tint removed from a local shop. cost me $78. went to court on apr. 28 and showed them my receipt and i even had before and after photos. the judge dismissed it after viewing my receipt. at least i think he dismissed it, i heard him say something really really fast because he had 168 other dockets to listen to and i left the courthouse w/o paying any fees. if it was dismissed i just saved myself another $82 fee. now im thinking i couldve forged my own receipt and gotten away with it.

time to fight the dealership that sold me the car that wasn't street legal.

wow, what a strange situation. I would give up on trying to find the owner and get a written statement from the dealership saying this is the condition of the vehicle as it was sold to you. It'll be much easier to do that than to track down the original owner.

yea, i thought it would be a long shot. but i figure getting the dealer to admit they sold me a car with illegal tint is an even longer shot?

dont tell them it's illegal....just tell them you need a statement saying the tint was done before your purchase.
