Cobalt SS best handling FWD EVA

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So people are talking about how the new cobalt ss/sc is the best handling FWD :bs:car ever made according to motortrend in a recent comparison between the cobalt vs the srt-4

the slaloms were as follows

600-foot slalom 67.2 mph avg 65.9 mph avg
Lateral acceleration 0.88 g avg 0.88 g avg

and the mazdaspeed held 0.88 g with a slalom of 72mph

so whats all this hype about? maybe we can get motortrend C&D R&T sport car compact to make a difinitve statment of the best handling FWD car ever made

Thats right, our Pro is alot better... 94protolx, all you have to do is write an e-mail to MT and im sure they will put it in the upcoming issue.

What your not taking into consideration though it the hp factor. They look at every thing.

More HP doesnt make it handle better....I wonder how much money GM throws Motortrend's way.

I was thinking if it had more HP, it *should* go faster through the slalom, so to me, more HP, but slower speeds looks worse than less HP, less speed.

kargoboy July-12th-2005 11:44 AM

Well, you could have a thousand HP, but if you end up on your roof it doesn't really matter does it?
Anyway, maybe they mean cars currently in production.
And yeah, mac, I'm sure GM pays Motortrend a lot more than Mazda does for their opinion.

True...

notice they messed up, and used the pic of the focus engine for the mazdaspeed.

Coming directly to here from the GM Jbody (cavalier/sunfire) world I can state from experience that, yes the cobalt SS does handle far better then the Cavaliers/Fires it replaced. I had my Sunfire dropped 3.5 inches from stock, koni's, front and rear upgraded sways, front and rear struts, and it still didn't handle as well as my new 3 does... GM pays alot of money to get thier name in these mags and with thier stock plummeting like it is they are doing anything they can to get back up into the public good graces, including this sad attempt at a "tuner vehicle" Which in my opinion is 5 years late and way over priced.
For all of the mazda people... http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...obalt_mazda_3/
:mach: GM

These don't mean squat. I remember when the sentra SER came out it was on of the best handling cars most balanced bla bla bla.

The cobalt is a nice car if you like the looks. Nice power ok price. faster that ours. But it wont stay there long the mazd 3 speed if it ever comes out will be right there.

I think they write these silly reviews for those lazy dumbasses who won't take the time to actually go test drive all of the cars that they are comparing to.
