Christmas SUCKED!

I dont kno why, but this christmas just totally SUCKED. I usually love christmas, but this year i could have cared less. I had to go over to my dads house and spend the whole day with my step-witch's family. BOO! And then on top of that we were opening presents and of course i have like 5 gifts, 2 of them from my sister and 3 gift cards from my DAD. while all my other siblings are piled with gifts. I could really care less about the material things, its the fact my own dad spends more time figuring out what to get his step kids than he own daughter. The my step-witchs family comes over along with some of her friends, they bring gifts for everyone EXCEPT me. I am feeling hella good about myself by now, so i am like fuck you all and go sit in my room and get on the phone with my best friend. My dad comes in (to make matters worse) and tells me its not a big deal and to get over it, go out and be social becuz I am being rude. WTF is that all about. Wow i am so glad this x-mas is over cuz it sucked a fatty one. But wutever dude, what can ya do. Its not my fault my family doesnt love me..lol jk.

Hmm, you think you had a lousy christmas? ok, my country has been on a nation wide strike for 26 days now, almost everything is closed, most gas stations are out of gas, my mother and my sister are stuck in Miami because my dad told them to stay there until things get straighten out here, they have all my christmas presents, I can't see my relatives because they live in another city and due to the gas shortages we can't go there to spend the holidays with them, I can't go out with my friends, I have all the stuff to install my car's sound system except for the HU and I can't get it because the shop is closed, food is starting to become scarce, we might be headed towards a civil war (maybe) and we don't know what the hell is going to happen. I'm basically inside my apartment all day watching tv, surfing the net or sleeping, it's driving me crazy.

So think again and count your blessings,

Have a Happy New year.

Of course, you do have internet access.... which seems odd.:)

I'm using dial up right now, my broadband conection doesn't work. The phonelines are still up as well as the electricity, it was part of the strike to keep the electricity working, but since some electrical plants work with fuel (diesel I think) the power supply will suffer sooner or later.

Thank god I still have internet acces, if not I would have probaly shot myself by now :crook:

JAC - unfortunately, the only people who are benefitting from your country's strike are those who are "long" in the oil commodities market. The price of oil (and gas, and all petro products) is rising steadily and rapidly with this strike, and anyone who invested in oil futures is dancing to the bank - BIG time.

Thanks for putting some perspective on things. We silly Americans sometimes forget how good we really have it here.

I always try to believe that no matter how bad things may be for me, someone else is MUCH worse off - always. Keep that thought in mind as you struggle through these trying times - things WILL get better.

You are correct hihoslva. We're the 5th oil exporter in the world and the US's 2nd biggest exporter (we used to be their 1st three year ago). It's a very delicate and complicated subject, and it's almost impossible for people outside of our country to understand what's going on here. Also, because of the imminent war against Iraq, the US is the first one interested in things getting straighten out here, if we manage to take this comunist bastard out of the presidency we will become the US's number one oil exporter once again and will assist you in your conflict against Iraq, no doubt about that. This will also be a benefit for us because we would be getting a huge income from oil production wich will help us to reconstruct our country after 4 years of poor(almost none) administration and unbelievable corruption.

We are definately making sacrifices now in order to make things better in the future, thaks for your support, I really apreciate it.

Ya.. a car accident happened near my house. My friend's neighbor's kid died slamming into a light post 3 blocks away!!

hihoslva December-29th-2002 08:16 AM

The whole cutting of wages is total bullshit.

My theory is this: First of all, if I work for you, I am NOT your partner. If you want me to share in the economic losses of your business, then you are - in effect - creating a partnership, in which case I deserve to reap the benefits if and when *our* business thrives.

If, as an employee, you share in the losses, you also deserve to share in the profits - and not with some crappy raise either. TRUE profit-sharing.

My wife recently quit her job over this - 14 months of working her ass off, and she gets a lousy $.50 an hour raise. Bullshit. The boss she worked for didn't know how to run a business effectively at all - at least twice in that span, he couldn't make payroll, and everyone had to wait two days to be paid. I wish she would've quit right then and there.

Every employer has the right to decide what raises and/or cuts will be given or made in the business. And every employee has the right to tell that boss to shove the job up his ass - and more people should.

I hope your country works it out, it must be pretty frightening to live there now. Sometimes we forget how lucky we are and complaign about how useless our gifts were or that we did not get enough gifts.
Not to go too much into politics, but I question whether defeating Iraq will help your country. If the US was to take over Iraq, I am sure the US would take advantage of oil production in the Mid East and likely lessen it's dependency on oil from your country.

As for me, I hate Christmas, I hate having it forced down my throat, being told that I need to buy things at the same time as everyone else, the crowds and most of all I hate the F'n Christmas music!!!!.

And for those Americans who complaign when the price of gas goes up 10 cents take a look at this:
Everyone complains when the price of gasoline goes up, but it remains one of the cheapest liquids available for sale. Here are 47 liquids and their prices, in order, from cheapest to most expensive
