Canadians: opinion on war?
 

Since I know that there are tons of Canadians on this board, i'm curious to find out what your opinions are on this war in Iraq. Are you against it, are you for it, do you hate us Americans? :p Like I said, i'm just curious what your views are on this. :)

i don't hate america.

i have no love for your administration however.

i don't support this war.

same here I have no problem with americans, really what is the difference between us and you other than our government and our currency???

I'm fairly indifferent to the war. I think that Saddam is a very bad man. I believe he has tried to make weapons of mass destruction, or purchase them, but I don't think he has been able to. Iraq has had severe sanctions on them since '91 and I don't think they have the ability to import the supplies necessary.

Sometimes I ask "Why Iraq?". There are other countries that definately pose a greater risk to the United States. In fact, Iraq could never directly harm the USA. Some people will say Iraq supports terrorism and that damages the US but many, many countries are doing the same thing, Saudia Arabia for example.

I dunno, I think George W has a bit of a vendetta against Saddam. Maybe he wants to finish what his father left undone, maybe it has to do with oil(but I doubt it). I think North Korea deserves a lot more attention than Iraq.

Something that I do know is that Iraq is gonna get it now. They are in big trouble. :(

I've already explained my point of view in about 50 messages in other threads, so I won't bother saying anything except that I don't support the war.

Canadians are the same as Americans except for a different accent then some, and also we're better at hockey ;)

I am against the war as well. I wish some one would just find Saddam and put a bullet in his head. It should have been done years ago. If it were only that easy. I don't find anything wrong with the states. I haven't been there for like 20 years but its just cause I can't afford to lose half of what I bring down there once I cross the border$$...lol.

I am an infantry soldier in the Canadian Forces. There are many problems with our Forces such as money concerns and lack up good equipment and enough training. But all in all a Canadian soldier is a very capable soldier. We do an excellent job with what we are given.

I am sure I speak for most Canadians when I say we do not hate Americans. There are several differences in our people but in the end we are still neighbours after all.

I may not feel that going to war is entirely justafied but I do believe that our pirme minister is a joke. And as most Canadians and certainly those of us here on the base feel, we should support the US efforts.

I joined the army with the ideals of doing what I believe is right and supporting a cause greater than my own. I am still pround to be a Canadian and of what I do but I cannot say the same for our prime minister.

we are participating in a world-wide war on terrorism. we remain active in afghanistan. we have re-affirmed that commitment.

we are co-operating with the US in securing borders.

we do not support the offensive in iraq. chretien made a choice. one many canadians agree with and many don't. but at least he took a position.

we weren't in vietnam either. was that a mistake?

I like the States, and anyone from Canada who says otherwise is an idiot. We would not be the great place to live if we were not close trading partners with the USA, we get to watch all the good States shows and movies, and we have peace loving neighbors to the south, contrary to what some people say. Also, if we have any dumb people in Canada, we just ship them south w/ a US passport :D .

That said, I do not agree w/ the method that lead to this war. If the timetable for dearming was used instead of the ultimatum, hopefully we could have resolved this more peacefully. I personally feel Bush backed himself into a corner early with all of the sword rattling; once Saddam made some weak concessions, but still concessions, Bush had to downplay them and anger the international community. Canada as a country relies too much on the UN for power to defy openly. The States do not have that reliance (being a superpower) and hence are able to make decisions unilaterally without getting skewered in the international circles.

In all, like the people, like the army, don't like the administration.

As hard as I try, I still can't justify this war. Saddam is a really really bad man, but I just can't see why war is neccessary. This is for disarming Saddam, not bombarding Iraq. Why minimize casualties, when there could be none. Tragic that the helicoptor crashed today. My condolences out to those families affected...and like everyone has said, Americans are good friends, not bad people, and like alco said, its the admin that we are weary about...

BTW are all of us Canadians peacekeepers or what?!?!?! LOL so far no one has justified this war...and I think Bushistan has the best ring to it, and it makes most sense since it seems to be a Bush family problem...

I think Bush is on a powertrip. What's up w/ this "freedom" fries crap? That's the lamest thing I've ever heard. The administration kinda sux..buncha itchy trigger fingers. At least Chretien grew some balls and pulled out of this mess.

I don't hate americans. We have issues w/ you and you have issues w/ us..but all in all..we're people of north america..and we're stuck w/ each other and we better learn to live w/ it.
