arg..no good deed goes unpunished

Well, I thought I'd run out to Road Atlanta yesterday and watch the races. The only catch was that it was extremely muddy. So today I thought I'd detail the Pro. Upon washing, wiping down sills, wiping down the engine, and basically nit-picking, I proceeded to remove each wheel and wipe down the suspension and the back side of the wheels (which I like to do regularly anyway). As I was preparing to mount the rear right wheel, I had it standing on edge when a rather large gust of wind came along and blew the wheel onto it's outter face, gouging the hell out of the surface and finish on the asphault. There's now quite a few deep pits across the outside of the rim. Oh well, just thought I'd vent my frustration. I now have an excuse to buy a used wheel to replace this one with and use the damaged one as a full sized spare (been wanting to do that anyway).

...as I like to say, no good dead goes unpunished.

That'd probably be more expensive than buying a new wheel. I dunno.

Heh, yeah. I'm pretty obsessive about keeping the car clean. It pays off IMHO.

Yeah, they're pretty deep. When it hit, it more or less bounced one or two more times smashing more rocks into it and the remaining into it even further (rocks + aluminumb = bad). My neighbors probably weren't too happy with my 4 letter exclamation after I saw the damage.

i usually wash mine like everynite i work, which is about every other day, since it's free cuz i work at a dealership. now that it's winter though i wash it a lot more, don't want all that salt sitting on there and having a good old time eating away at my paint. stupid winter. anyways, i wash my engine prolly once or twice a month. usually three or four times a year i'll even take out the front seats and shampoo all the carpets, make it look real nice.

anybody else have some obsessive compulsive actions they take when cleaning their car?
