Anyone using Yahoo email READ THIS if you dont want spam!
This is strickly FYI, some of you may know about this, while others may not have a clue until it is fully implemented.
I have (3) email addresses with yahoo.com. I check (1) of them most of the time, but the other (2) I very rarely check. I came across an article about new PRIVACY changes that yahoo is making. If you havent recieved the email about these changes, then read this! As I said earlier, I have (3) email addresses with yahoo.com. The one that I check everyday didnt have the email about the new privacy settings. There is a new option under the "OPTIONS", "ACCOUNT INFORMATION" menu. Under "alternate email", there is a new menu for "Edit your marketing preferences". This is a new menu that yahoo just put into play about 2 days ago. There are about 16 boxes where you MUST check off YES or NO if you want spam from advertisers. Also at the bottom of the list is a spot where you must choose YES or NO if you want them to contact you by snail mail or phone. I think this is very decieving of yahoo to add this new menu and have all the boxes checked off as YES. For more information on this goto http://zdnet.com.com/2100-1106-871803.html |
Gro Harlem, what email service do you use? I have Cox Cable internet service, but I dont like using my ISP email address since I have changed/will change ISPs. I LIKED yahoo, before they started this trash. To top this off, they implemented a new system where you have to pay $29.99 for POP/SMTP service (so you can view your yahoo email with outlook or another email client). Like you said Gro Harlem, its a shame how people screw up a good thing because all they care about is making the big bucks. Yes, I am for making money, but dont go screw up a good service that has been running just fine! Well, that my 2 cents.
Like I said, im not against people making money, I was going to pay $9.99 a year for yahoo mail so that I would have 10mb email space plus other extras. But since they changed the POP/SMTP policy, thats $29.99 plus $9.99! Next they might start charging you for each email you get?! If anyone has any other email service suggestions, please post them. Thanks ;) |
