Aaaarrrrrggggghhhhh yet again!
 

So, I am supposed to be heading home in about a week. Flight arrangements in hand and everything. Today I found out that may not happen and it could be an additional 5 days. Can't get into specifics but there is no real reason for this to be. Don't know how many of you remember but the last time I was out here I got stuck an extra month after not one, but two reliefs hurt themselves. I just hope this isn't going to be history repeating itself because my gf will be batshit! I won't even get into how I will deal with it. :tank:

Just get home safely. I'm sure (read: I hope) she'll understand that it's outta your hands and you want to see her as much as she wants to see you. :)

Sounds like a secret mission to me...spy ship disguised as a commercial ship.

or maybe a probe to uranus?

anyway, important thing is to get home SAFE.

Thanks guys. While she does understand it doesn't make it any easier. She does four months on her own, taking care of both her and my kids while going to school and she pretty much is done at the end of that time. Unfortunately this is one of the drawbacks of working on a government contracted ship. I'm trying to get back on a real (read: commercial) ship, my union has a contract with a company building new LNG ships but so far getting our people on their ships has been moving slowly.

And Gary, I was on a spy ship once...now I have to kill you!

This just gets better and better...found out today that the thing that caused me to stay 5 extra days is cancelled. My relief has already been set back by the five days and at this point nothing can be changed. I won't be telling my gf this news until I get home, otherwise a certain member of the US Navy would be castrated in short order (and if you don't think that couldn't happen over 10,000 miles and a phone line, you haven't seen my gf in action).
