60 amp service
Heya guys! long time no see! well bryce and i just bought ourselves a great little condo BUT it's only 60 amp service....is this bad?! is there anything you can let us know about?!
Thanks in advance! danielle |
60 amps ,I'm surprised most electrical panels are at least 100 amps . Do you have natural gas for heat ,stove ,and hot water .If you do then I can see why it was built with only a 60 amp service . If not then i would get it checked to see if you are not over taxing the electrical system .

60 Amp services were used long ago...before the days of electric dryers and central air conditioning. I've upgraded several before myself (for people I know), but there is a lot of work involved. The meter base must be changed as well as the load center. If the existing load center isn't within a 6 ft run of 2/0 cable, then a disconnect must be added as well. $$$$ Enough rambling. Just don't run the AC and the dryer at the same time.
