insane motorcycle

If you dug into any articles about the detroit Auto Show you may have seen this from Chrystler...if not....take a peek....this is INSANE!
The Detroit auto show has seen a lot of concept cars over the decades, but a four-wheel motorcycle powered by a 500-horsepower V-10 engine is a first. And it may turn out to be more than a concept. DaimlerChrysler AG's Chrysler arm on Monday unveiled the Dodge Tomahawk -- essentially the 8.3 liter engine from a Dodge Viper mated to a motorcycle frame. Chrysler executives said while the chrome-draped Tomahawk was outlandish, they were seriously considering whether to build a few hundred at a price of at least $250,000 each Chrysler Group Chief Operating Officer Wolfgang Bernhard motors along the stage aboard the brand-new Dodge Tomahawk V-10, 8.3-liter (505 cubic inch) concept motorcycle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 6, 2003. The Tomahawk features four-wheel independent suspension, and the superbike's engine, borrowed from the Viper sports car, can propel it at speeds of nearly 400 mph. |
a cheaper way to kill one's self is to choke on a pretzel.:D
400mph = 15 mile long grease smear when you wipe out. what's the current motorbike ground speed record? |
One spill on that bike and it's all over. I wouldn't mind owning one though. Nice find Nuke!

I was just reading about that. What happens if you have to turn.
What I was really amaved at was the v-16 engine one of the companies developed. 1000 hp and it still gets 20 miles to the gallon. I think it was chysliar ( sp) or cadilac. Alot of high end cars there. |

that is the first Caddy that I can say DAMN I WANT THAT SHIT!!

Cadillac will be building this V-16.
20mpg, by use of variable displacement IE cutting off some cylinders when full power isn't needed. I don't know how much more its been developed since the early 1980's but most people will tell you that it was one fuck of a disaster. I believe that at highway cruising speeds only 4 of 16 cylinders will be functioning. I've read a few things about it and it seems that both valves will be closed on those 12 cylinders. I don't see how the 4 working cylinders would be able to overcome the friction of 12 not working cylinders as well as overcome the compression of them all as well. |
I don't think the bike will ever reach that thoertical top speed with out some major aerodynamic aids which add weight. Which then, makes that top speed more difficult to attain.

The bike will do 400 without the driver. He gets tossed at 200.

Is anybody else reminded of Tron?

Even the graphics are still impressive. I donīt think you would be able to hold on to the bike if you were doing a burnout. It would probably take off without you and leave your ass on the starting line. At least if that happened, it wouldnīt fall on its side and get all scratched. |
