hell no.. dang, the focus interior quality/build is just crappy. Think of it this way. Go see for yourself ANY focus..
the interior quality is going to be same for the SVT as any other focus. eg. try moving the vent positions; you're actually changing it manually (very unimpressed) vs other cars using some electronic means to move the vent positions. I don't know why people would buy the svt, just too pricey (4 grand more canadian for a loaded svt vs a loaded spec) for what you get (same goes for the sunfire/cavalier). I'm not too sure about the newer neons; i haven't checked them out, but i imagine they're not all that great either.

on another note, get the specs right:

Compression ratio: 10.2:1
Horsepower: 170 hp @ 7000 rpm
Torque: 145 lbs.-ft. @ 5500 rpm

there is another post on the neon SVT. IMHO the focus could bearly survive as a econo-car with all the bad workmanship. Now stick 175hp in it and you'll have to have the bumber sticker "honk if parts fall off"

i dunno about that, that's something too general to say. anyhow, i do give the focus SVT credit for the engine side of things; however, like i said, the interior quality just isn't up to par :/
it's almost a 30,000 car and the interior fit and finish is that of pure econo car, the focus. and other companies' econo-cars are indeed of better interior quality (namely mazda, toyota, honda, nissan)

I dpn't know if this was already said, but the Nissan Spec-V is slower than the SE-R in the 1/4 because of the bigger tires

arl240 August-22nd-2002 05:03 PM

If the above is true, I would also say it is also because of that pig of a six speed :( as well. The five speed is way smoother and the SE-R's have that instead.

Drew's Infamous Performance Comparo (who let me on this forum anyways, there should be a quiz first :p ):
SE-R

165hp
5 speed
16 inch Allseasons (i think)

Spec V

175hp
6 speed
17 inch performance
Stock spoiler and funky upholstery ( )
LSD (not sure how much this would do)

actually the full release of the MS Pro will be 1750 US and 250 canadia but i seriously doubt the tranny will take over 220 hp before suffering damage. I dont know about the new SLSD on the MS but the stock P5 and sedan will under no circustances take 400hp. The FS should easily take 250-275 but anything higher and building up the bottom end is a serious need.

BTW, Sport Compact Car magazine has called the new MS protege their

"new benchmark for production car performance. That's right, it has knocked the old Integra Type R of the mountain"

and also

"at 72 mph, it's the fastest production car [in the slolum] we've ever tested"

That's what I'm talkin about. So all you Focus SVT, Matrix XRS, Neon R/T lovers can stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

That's why i said i wasn't sure about the limitation on the MS Pro, but the Base tranny on the 1.8L/2.0L seems suspect if it can handle 400hp. After reading mad posts on this board i just came to the assumption that the tranny wont take more than 220hp.

I can also make another assumption that building up the tranny, like a fotenzza (ugh speeling) ULW fly wheel, clutch disk, and pressure plate, and other stronger internals could help too.
Also, a new exhaust will free up some power also.

You have the new Tochigi Fuji Sangyo KK Super Limited Slip Differential and tranny from the MS Pro????

If i got the MS i would definately boost it to 200hp after breaking the engine in. But i would definately want to see what 250hp feels like in the Pro. That's only after a bigger IC upgrade since the one on there now is friggin tiny.

But even after these upgrades, the total MS Pro wil only cost around 23-24 large.
