2003 Corolla Finally Unrevealed - What do you think?
|
A definate improvement but...
Looks way too much like a small camry. Also, I hate the interior- kinda has an "old man" look to it. |
Every new car I see makes me like the looks of the P5 even more! I just cant wait for the RX-8! :D
|
Sorry everybody, its not cool!
It looks like a "retirees car" without the grnd-FX and it looks like a "retirees car with grnd-FX" with the grnd-FX. I think the new Civic had sex with an Echo. Looks very much like a bubblisious Civic. Who wants to drive a "Toy-Yoda" anyway! The Verdict...Anyway you slice it...I think its rude...which is odd for me because I like any car with performance potential...unless its a GM! |
sorda has a lexus gs look to it.
|
THEMAN : The corolla is coming out in February 2002. Which is in another month. If the corolla doesn't appeal to me. I will get the Protege5. THat's my final decision.
|
No Comprend0!
I don't understand how we can even compare the new Corolla to a Protegé5
I just doesnt comprehend! (no comprend0) |
still looks like boring, church lady's commuter (in a little more modern dress)
other than looks what suspension/engine/tranny improvements it will get? |
But did you see the picture with the body kit in Car and Driver? Butt-ugly. And makes the car look top-heavy.
I'm happy with my '90 LX. And my '02 Altima (gotta love a big 4-door sedan that gets better than 25 mpg on the highway, runs the 1/4 in the 14's at 95+, and tops out around 150.) |
Well, it doesn't look too bad, but it's still no P5.
A really important question (for some, anyway), is whether or not the back seat has any more room. I remember the 1999 or 2000 (can't recall which) had a really dinky back seat, particularly compared with the Protege. |
exterior--looks o.k
interior---looks shit engine---planned 100kw engine sounds damn good overall---would still prefer a sp20:blue: |
Well you won't mistake it for anything other than a Toyota. In a word Boring.:thumbs do
|
EWE!!!!!!!! Looks like a swollen Echo!!
Sorry. Its sux....as with all the rest of Toyota's latest models. I think Honda and Toyota are running a contest to see how much they can f*ck up the looks of their cars. Remember the Honda and Toyota of old.....late 80's to early nineties?
|
The wheels are too small and it looks so far off the ground that it could be a 4wheel drive!
|
All of Toyota's recent cars are losers except for the IS300, i'd kill for one of those.
|
I agree!
Dude! I'm so glad someone else out there shares my opinion: I think at least the new Civics are butt-ugly. Don't get me wrong-- Honda's are still excellent cars (as are Toyotas), but I just think the new Civic sucks in terms of appearance. Geeeeze. The new Civic can't compare to the Protege; our cars look far better.
The new Corolla? I considered a Corolla when shopping for my new car, but the current, pre-2003 model design is simply too boring. I think the 2003 is an improvement, but what's up with the fake wood paneling on the interior!? Maybe they'll include artificial wood siding outside like on 1980's station wagons! You know chicks dig that wood paneling, big time! Heheheh... The antenna is cool-- Mazda should do that standard on the Protege. Also, it looks like, at least in the picture, you can get a Corolla with leather. Wish that was an option in the Protege, personally. |
why is this topic in the pro5/mp3/3rd gen forum?

Well, to give some credit, it does look better than a Honda Civic. :)
|
well most entry cars coming from japan are sucking. the prot is still amazing looking, the new lancer is ok, only if you've seen the EVO, the sentra is ok, but why did they scrap the SR20? everything else coming from there is just hideous.
|
|
The new corrola looks hella tight! I can't stop looking at it. But my P5 rocks! I like the whole wagon thing. Specially the way it drives. Toyota build quality is as nice as mazda, IE the p5 fit and finish it top notch. I like the looks of the car, but the fact that it is made in the US/Canada, sucks. The other thing is MAZDA is taking the world by storm, with the RX8 and Atenza. ZOOM ZOOM baby!

check out the corolla they get in the uk, kinda looks like the p5. i havnt seen pics of the matrix yet. is this what that car is based on.
http://www.toyota.co.uk/NGCorolla/corolla_main_02.jpg |
I think the Matrix went to a new dimension, but went too far. Protege5 can be a family, sporty, fun car.. but the Matrix.. is very .. unique.. I don't know what to say. If there're people that love PT Cruiser, I'm sure there'll be people that love the Matrix. but personally.. I love the Protege5 way more.
|
It looks like a medium sized echo with a body kit and wood interior optiona , and 110 on the dash
bruce ps , I hope they keep the 1.8 ,,, those are good |
er...i smell a lexus wanna b sitting on huffy tires...
|
No contest!!!! If you're deciding between the P5 or the corolla , definitley go for the P5. I agree with the rest. Looks like an echo/camry. But then if you lookin at the new celica..............
|
yeah but usually none of the lexus designs fall down to the toyota line...unlike nissan/infiniti. till recently i guess, the new camry resembles the new lexus...the corolla just resembles and oogly car...and the mismatched lexus stylin makes it even ooglier
|
the new corolla looks okay, i kinda like the back of it. it does look top heavy though.. why the hell do they have to make cars that look like bubbles? it's ugly.
