20 secs of your time...

Major petition going around because DOT/NHTSA has stopped the sales of aftermarket HID/Xenon/Projector lighting, therefore making anyone with it installed or pending install, illegal.

If you already seen this or signed it, sweet. If not, it will only be 20 secs of your time.

How about no, that shit is stupid and annoying. Let's instead petition to make plastic headlight housing illegal

midnightblue97 December-16th-2003 05:12 PM

If its not the same or equivalent to what was installed at the factory, or has been altered in any way, it is illegal.

I'm glad they're finally making a law.

A) They're too bright. They make me hate night driving. Once I flipped off a guy behind me in a Sidekick/Tracker with lights as bright as flood lights (I'm not exaggerating...I don't know what they were, but they were blinding.). And he knew they were blinding, because he then started flicking his lights at me. After 15 seconds, I swear I was gonna get out and pull out my tire iron, but he turned. Lucky for him.

B) Many of the cars with Xenons/HID's/Hyperwhites DON'T HAVE THEIR HEADLIGHTS ALIGNED STRAIGHT!!!

They don't look that cool, anyway. If there ever comes a situation where you need bright lights, like a deserted forest road, use your hi-beams.

i have to agree, super bright headlights are not necessary, they do more harm then good, is it your intention to blind other drivers so that they can't see you. But if a regulation needs to be made, its to have headlights properly aligned. Flame away

You're absolutely right. Most people dont have their headlights alligned straight, or have 1 that's way off. In NY state you can fail your vehicle inspection with incorrect position of the lights. But most inspectors (ie POS garages) dont care or dont care to look.

Seems like the cops dont give a shit about allignment, but want to pull people over for stupid shit. So , fuck it ban the lights.. they're annoying
