Hey guys, just checkin in on this board. I can't get to it from work because the url has the evil word "forum" in it.

Anyway, I'm a Foxboro Native and I should be appearing at the meet if all goes well. I just bought my P5 in March and moved out of my house in June so I haven't had time to do anything to it yet (my stereo equipment is awaiting a weekend where it doesn't rain).

So if you guys have any questions about Foxboro I'll gladly answer them. I'm warning you now though, other than the few restaurants on Rte 1, there isn't much around. I know a few back roads that would be fun for a Mazda convoy. Plus a photo shoot is in order at Foxboro common....If we have a good showing we could fill the rotory!

Alright, gotta go to work. Email me at chris@huyler.net if you have questions, or post them on this thread so I can see them at work:

Hey, Chris. Welcome to the "forum" :D It is really helpful that we can have some one that knows about the area, because I know a little about Foxboro. I lived in Franklin for a couple of years, but now I live in Waltham. Anyhow, I really like your ideas of having a convoy drive and a photoshoot, and the food is always a great idea. I will be in touch with you as the date nears the event.

2 weeks to go..Now, Have we decided on a place for the CT crew to meet for the cruise up I-95? What about the guys up in woodstock, etc.? where is that anyway? Slug420 suggested his parking lot at work..sounds good to me..lets get these meet points locked in so we can be ready to roll come sunday..any news on the providence meet? I just want to make sure this runs as smoothly as possible so we can straight cruise to foxboro..i can't wait for the meet and for the Rev It Up challenge..we get see chumps beat on Mazda6's and hopefully get free stuff..:chug:

slug420 June-30th-2003 07:52 PM

times to be set, suggest them if you have any ideas. Aim for a 1:00 arrival in foxboro

Directions:
For those of you coming up 95 from CT. We will meet you in the parking lot where I work in Providence. Get off exit 24 (branch ave) on 95 north in providence. It is on the north side of the city, so you will go past the providence place mall on your right before you get to the exit.

When you get off the exit, take a left and you will go over 95 and past a stopNshop. Take a right at the light with Mobil on the corner (silver spring st) And then another right at the AAA building onto felix mirando way (its only about 500 feet long). Then another right at the end of felix mirando way and you will see a business on the right about 1000 feet down the road "ODEC" . Thats where we are all going to meet for the ride to foxboro. it sounds complicated, but trust me, its ridiculously simple.... :)

Now.......for those of you who are from CT or NY but do not want to go south to 95 and take 95 all the way to providence, IE, those of you from northern or central CT, you can take 84 to northeastern CT and I can give you directions to meet up with me and a couple other northeast CT owners on our way to meet up with the rest of the group in providence (we will be taking rte 6 over). If you are interested in meeting up in northeast CT then let me know and I we can set up a place up in this neck of the woods to meet.

sound like a plan?
:) :)

BPERETTO July-2nd-2003 07:51 AM

We've got two near Manchester, CT. Where do we join the caravan? I went to school in RI, and I either took rte 6 or 44 to providence. Taking 84 to the mass pike kinda blows. And taking 95 adds a lot of time to the trip.

Those near woodstock could take Rte 169 or other route down to 44. What's better than a nice country drive in your Protege on a Sunday?

(oh, and Spicy- it's Guinness- two N's. Sounds like you had too many jars of the brown. Maybe we can raise a few pints up there. Slainte!)

High Body July-2nd-2003 12:52 PM

chances are ill try to be there if i have my new clutch in and i dont have work... ill be there on the 13th.... because the 12th.... chris and i are gonna see some get wet girls!!!!

SpicyMchaggis July-2nd-2003 04:02 PM

I am most likely coming down Rt 6 just because it is a hell of alot quicker for me..You guys in manchester , we can meet up and cruise to RI on rt 6...I dont know about the guy in fairfield though, you should just come up RT 58 and meet us on 6..Im not too keen cruising in a pack on I-95..that road is bad news...yea..thanks for the correction on the guinness..the occasional typo is inevitable...that or i just can't spell...haha i swear ocifer im no durnk...

irish6714 July-2nd-2003 04:15 PM

all northern/central CT proteges plan on meeting at exit 69 off 84. There si a commuter lot right across fromt he exit. I know some twisties we can cruise on from there to 6, and since I commute from that area to providence every day im pretty familiar with the drive. Then we meet up off Branch ave in providence with all the 95ers and roll up to foxboro

SpicyMchaggis July-3rd-2003 09:38 PM

exit 69? where is that on I-84? I live by exit 7..probably like an hour from me then..that sounds good to me..i just need to know times..

BPERETTO July-4th-2003 07:25 AM

69 is sorta near uconn storrs - I think it's one after. I live around 67ish. Anyways, I'm game and Josh probably is, too.

SpicyMchaggis July-4th-2003 10:21 AM

alright..i'll go up there and meet you guys...just gotta make sure all the guys living in fairfield and around southern CT take 95 and meet us in providence.

slug420 July-6th-2003 11:49 PM

Hey guys, its update time!

The Meet:
Sunday July 13 at 1:00 PM at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro MA (RIU)

The Plan:
Since im not from foxboro and am not familiar with the facilities and since we have not made organized efforts ahead of time as far as food goes, plan on there being no cookout. On that note however, since we are going to totally plan our activities by ear and its up to a popular vote what we do, feel free to bring a grill and some dogs if you want to. An on THAT note, we will be wingin it and putting any activity to a popular vote so driving to a classic car show, just cruising to some area hot spot, photoshoots at 982 locations, getting eats at some restaurant - we are open to anything.

The Convoy:
From points north - you're on your own. I would go to the gillette stadium website or mazda rev it up website for directions to the event.

People from CT- If you are going up 95 and meeting us in providence, please shoot me an email or a PM just so I know how many ppl to expect meeting in providence or if we even have to meet there at all. Plan on meeting in providence at the location discussed earlier (exit 24, branch ave, off 95 north) at 12:00 Noon. We will then leave the parking lot in providence at 12:30 (gives us a buffer in case anyone is running late) and cruise up to foxboro.

If you are planning on meeting at exit 69 then be there, exit 69 off 84 East in CT. When you get off the exit take a right and you will see a commuter lot about 20 feet down the road on your left, cant miss it. We are meeting there at 10:00 AM and leaving there by 10:30 AM (once again a little buffer). Now to make things a little more fun, im gonna take us on a little bit of a scenic route (some twisties etc) on our way to providence, where we should arrive around noon. and from there its off to foxboro and into the record books.........or something :)

Bring 2 way radios if you have them, and please e-mail me chrisdecarli@hotmail.com or PM me or AIM me if you have any questions/comments/dirty jokes/etc............this is my first time organizing anything at all anywhere ever so lemme know if im forgetting something.

Hope to see you all there!

BOOYA

Lookin forward to putting some miles on the P5, just picked it up 2 weeks ago and luv'in it so far!

Josh

SpicyMchaggis July-11th-2003 10:46 AM

for your guys driving solo:
From Northern Connecticut, Vermont, Upstate New York:Interstate 90 East (Massachusetts Turnpike) to Route 495 South; Exit 14A onto Route 1 North. Follow Route 1 North approximately 4 miles to Gillette Stadium (on the right).

From Southern Connecticut, Rhode Island:
Interstate 95 North to Interstate 495 North; Exit 14A onto Route 1 North. Follow Route 1 North approximately 4 miles to Gillette Stadium (on the right).

From Maine, New Hampshire:
Interstate 128 South to Interstate 95 South; Exit 9 onto Route 1 South. Follow Route 1 South approximately 3 miles to Gillette Stadium (on the left).

If you live in the vicinity of any of our convoy meets, you should definetyl meet up with us..Northern/Western/Eastern CT..we're meeting at exit 68 off I-84 at 10:00AM on sunday..Thats if your NOT going up I-95 to providence. The next meet is in Providence, RI at slug420's scheduled time and place..From there, we cruise to foxboro!

Astral July-11th-2003 11:48 AM

I'm kind of busy Sunday, so I wouldn't be able to stay at the event much past 1pm, but the convoys sound like a good idea. I'll probably meet up the CT crew at exit 69 for 10am, cruise up to Foxboro and then head back to Worcester MA at 1:10pm.

- Astral (from Woostah Mass)

slug420 July-11th-2003 01:13 PM

BPERETTO July-11th-2003 03:45 PM

Hey, you guys have a good meet today and take lotsa pics!

Coffee has gotten the worst of me tonight, there's no way I'm gonna catch enough sleep to even think about making it :(

Darith July-13th-2003 08:27 PM

I was at Rev it up today, where was this meeting? Someone left a piece of paper on my car and told me to email for more info. When's the next group meeting, I am fairly new to these boards. But anyways, Rev it up was a good time. And whoever put that paper on my car should of left their name or something so I could get in touch with them.

slug420 July-13th-2003 09:15 PM

i was the one who "tagged" your car

Our meet was over in the side lot at the stadium by the road. Welcome to the board and be sure ot email protegeclub@hotmail.com so we can keep you in the loop for the next meet!

:)

Darith July-13th-2003 09:26 PM

Cool, yup I did sign up. Cant wait to get to meet everyone!

turbonium959 July-13th-2003 09:34 PM

I wish I knew where you guys were. I was at Rev It Up until 3:30 from like 11:00. Though, it was fun. I hope you guys took pics.

slug420 July-14th-2003 01:32 AM

damn dude, that sucks, dont know how u missed us....

there was a triangle formed by 2 entrances/exits and route 1, and we were in the parking lot in that triangle, had it all to ourselves, so everyone coming and leaving could see us...

not sure how we missed you

we'll just have to make sure to catch you next time! :)
