is anyone in the SCCA cuz i'm thinking of joining it to see what its like, but if someone is in it, maybe they can tell me how its run and any other info about it. thanks

I'm not a member, but I can't believe no one else here is. I'd join, but I'm too afraid of breaking something on my 180k car. It's my only transportation, and I don't have a job to pay to fix it.

That said, I'll join as soon as I'm in a secure enough financial situation. Here's a link to their local schedule at Nassau Coliseum:

Next one isn't for a while, but you can go and ask around (I think you've been there already, haven't you?)

Anyway, it works something like this...You do a few runs, anywhere from 2 to 4 tries, I guess. Then, the next group goes, and you go to work. You go onto the course and pick up cones, or you direct traffic through the pit or the starting line or the finish line. The more skilled jobs go to the more seasoned folks. You will have to do something when you're not driving...they'll probably find something for you to do.

I don't think it's hard work...the beginner stuff is pretty simple. Check out the links on the site...there's a spot where they lay it all out. (something they don't mention on the website is that first-timers have to kiss the stick-shift of everybody that gets a faster time than they do.:o ;) :D )

Good luck. There's a lot of Miatas there...one of them is really, really good. Has a sunny decal on the doors or something.

i see. and yes Big M, i have been to the one at Nassau over the summer. definitly, there were many miatas there, aside from a few RX-7's. i didn't know that was an SCCA one though. i think once i get out of school i'm going to join cuz theres no point to joinif i'm up here most of the year.
