well....................

I was showin off the engine bay to some buddies this past weekend when I noticed that there was a bolt missing from the heat shield.....

I had just picked it up from the dealership that morning so it is conceivable that they forgot to put one back in for some reason but what is disturbing is that it was in for a new sway bar and end links in the rear, so I am curious as to why the heat shield in the engine would even have been touched. Before that the last time my hood was open other than the meet was when I had my oil changed, and while I dont think they should have had the heat shield off either, at least its somewhat close to where they would have been working. SO........I was hoping I would be able to check out a pic from the meet online and see the bolt in its place and thus be able to prove that it was the dealership that forgot to put it back in cuz im really dying to know why they were touching it in the first place - but if i go in and ask now they will most likely say "we didnt touch it" and that will be the end of that

so...........

"craps craps craps"

heat shield bolts

You sure it didn't just vibrate out? One of mine did. I replaced them all.

Wow - this is a topic I haven't seen in a while!

The heat sheild bolts coming loose seemed to be a very common occurrence. Loads of people here complained about it - once a thread got started, there were tons of "hey, I just checked and my bolt is gone too!" replies. Do a search - you'll be amazed - mostly old threads, too.

No worry, man - I'm sure this is just what happened to you. Let the dealership throw another one in there, and torque up the rest of them while they're at it.
