PA/NJ meet Pics (big)

Well, not that many people in the area really care, but Marc and I actually showed up and met each other. No one else showed, but we both had a great time, anyway. Some of his Subaru buddies showed up and they are a really great crowd.

Anyway, we're going to do it again, and I hope more people decide to come.

Some viscious angles off all the P5s that were there.

Marc's done some cool things to his car. Besides the VFF lights on the visor, he's got a kicken' sound system, AEM intake, air horns, guage pods, exhaust... really nice ride....

Here are some pics of his engine bay (notice the red grill - you can't really see it in the other pics).

and then here's a courtesy shot of my engine bay, just to show how really different Marc's is:

I can only imagine how loud those horns are :D. I always wanted to get something with style to replace, the stock 'road-runner' honk I have in my Pro.

Yeah, according to Marc those air horns were something like $12.99 at PepBoys. I think he said it took him about 15 minutes to hook them up. I didn't actually hear them though (thank God).

The only thing is... if you look in my engine bay, you'll see that there's no way to get them in unless you remove the stock air box. I can't believe how much room that thing takes up!

When i had my stock airbox in, i popped the top grill off and mounted them verticle in front of the radiatior. They worked well, but did not have the same "asthetic" appeal! All hail marc, the king of econo mods!

Bru- good job on the pix... how does it feel to be the nj chapter president?

Brubeck June-26th-2002 12:24 PM

If you want ideas on how to mount them with the stock airbox in place, check my pix here: http://community.webshots.com/album/34434049WpPmay

Took me forever to find the right place, angle, etc. but it worked out great. The kit is made for a Miata - I used the same kit when I had a Miata, so I figured with the same one-wire horn setup we have it would work out great - and it did.

I got the horns from Moss Motors - included the compressor, lines, horns, and a few mounting brackets which I modded slightly to fit the Protege.

Probably the most worthwhile upgrade I have done to the car so far, except the stereo.

I am way up in North Jersey. About an hour away from Edison and New Brunswick. We should form a PR5 NJ club or something.
