SOLD!!
Well it's finally time to sell "the Goat" after 5 years of ownership. Here's the spec: 1990 Protege 4wd, 4cyl (103hp), 5 speed, 4door, blue (faded), all wheel drive with locking differentials, 199k, independent rear suspension, four wheel disc brakes, power steering, tinted windows, AM/FM/CD, fold down rear seats, snow tires with about 60% tread left. Gets about 28 mpg. I've kept an extensive maintenance log on this car which can be emailed to prospective buyers. Besides oil changes, here's some of the highlights: rear pads- 5k ago front shocks and fuel filter- 15k ago clutch-18k ago rear muffler and downpipe- 30k ago rear shocks: 42k ago radiator: 45k ago timing belt and front pads: 49k ago Problem areas: faded paint with some rust around one of the wheel wells no A/C no horn fuel gauge (I use the "fill-it-up-and-watch-the-trip-odo" method) back tires are a little cupped from previous wheels, little shake above 75 mph Other than that this car is great shape, a VERY reliable and tough little car. That motor feels like it has at least another 100k in it, doesn't really burn much oil. It's been such a great communter, as well as a perfect mountain bike/ snowboard/ camping/ go-anywhere-you-wouldn't-take-most-cars type of car. If I didn't need something a little bigger (I just bought a Passat wagon AWD), I would happily drive this thing into the ground. The interior is pretty good shape, no major rips or stains. It starts up every morning and settles into a smooth idle. From what I understand, this is a pretty rare car. Only about 1500 were produced with the AWD system, with most of them making it up to Canada. I've never had any issues with the AWD, it really doesn't make itself known until your in some crud, and then it just pulls you through. Never been stuck, even in a foot of snow! Aside from the issues mentioned above, it doesn't really have any bad habits. It comes with a car cover, bike rack, two extra oil filters, and an extra fuel filter. I'd be happy to email you some of the pics that I have along with the maintenance log, as well as answering any questions. The price is $1500 Please email me at timmyj72@hotmail.com |

if only you lived closer to nc, i would have bought asap!
|
its not the miata engine its a sohc version on the 1.8l bp motor, pretty sure the dohc head can be made to fit though. GTX swap would be the first thing to do with a car like this.
