I don't get everyone's obsession with cat-back exhausts. It's the biggest scam put out to date by the companies. And I've heard all the supposed claims for it. "The company spent time researching and designing for maximum flow" B/S, they took a look under the car! And checked for any places they could cut just a little closer to straighten out the bends. Then charge you and extra $300 for doing it. Here's an example. Greddy makes a cat-back for a 90 Nissan Maxima. $550 for pipes and muffler. I spent $200 on a Ravin Exhaust, and $90 on piping from the cat to the muffler. HMM that's only a little over $300 with tax. Compared to spending $550 for the greddy, then more for shipping, oh, then even more for having it installed. Wake up people, there are a shops that will do the piping for you at a cheaper rate!

thats true, but mandrel bent polished stainless steel with good welded flanges isn't exactly the cheapest.

I just bought a 2.5" full stainless steel (T-304), polished, mandrel bent catback with Greddy-style muffler for $250 shipped to my door.

Could any shop near me have done this for this price?? Not a chance in hell. The closest offer I got was for a guy with a mandrel bender who said he would make me a 2.5" mandrel bent pipe from my header to my STOCK muffler in standard, nasty exhaust pipng for $300. no resonator, no muffler nothing....if I wanted a resonator, sporty muffler, stainless steel he said it would cost $600.

Personally I'll just buy some mandrel bends and tubing myself and make my own exhaust but I couldn't pass up this exhaust I got. I would've spent over $200 just buying the pieces...then 2 days trying to polish it up as nice.

cat-back exhausts are nice to have if your car would benefit from one.

Well I do have to say you got a good price. And you're right when it comes to having a car that can benifet from one. But I've seen too many people go nuts over a cat-back exhaust. I have seen and heard too many people bragging about this $300 -500 cat-back they bought. And what' funny, is my 90 Maxima, and my friend's Civic, (Both with custom piping) beat the pants off all of em.
