New Mazda 5 forums added

Since the Mazda 5 shares so much in common with the 3, it made sense to add some Mazda 5 specific forums here. Also the new domain www.mazda5club.net will be pointing here shortly.

Enjoy!

good news. I'lll be on the lookout for new 5 owners and I'll make sure to tag their cars with the link.

Now if only someone would actually buy one...

Roddimus Prime February-6th-2006 04:36 PM

they aren't selling them here. They said there are some recalls they are doing to them first....they put them on the lot as the recalls are performed. I had to go to the back lot to sit in one.

When I was at the Mazda dealer in September (back when my VICS was getting fixed) they had several on the lot. Kind of cool in a Eurasian-Mazda sort-of way. It's a shame they've had problems. I've never actually seen one on the road.

When I first saw/read about them, it seemed to me that Mazda was shooting itself in the foot because it looked like something that would hurt sales of the 5-door 3. It is similar in price and overall size and not that different in function.

new user

i'm a new user on this forum with a quick question regarding my shocks and struts.

i have a 2001 mp5 and i would like to upgrade the suspension, what's the best product to get. thanks! :shooter:

kargoboy February-10th-2006 11:26 AM

1) Welcome
2) There are many different products and viewpoints. I think a search would help. b Personally,
I am running the Eibach Pro-kit on stock struts. Are you looking for just a drop? Are you
planning to track the car?
3) You are in the wrong section. The Mazda 5 is different from the P5 (Protege-based). The
correct place is the 3rd gen section-- can a mod please move this thread?

Roddimus Prime February-10th-2006 04:11 PM

the THREAD is in the right section. It's just his post thats not....and no I can't move it without just deleting it.

We have sold a few Mazda 5 here. The recall has been done on all of our inventory. As far as I know, it was just related to the exhaust routing. They are installing heat shields on them. The manual mode on the transmission would allow the driver to stay in a lower gear at higher speeds and the heat from the exhaust would/could start a fire.

The problem should be fixed now.

how stupid does the driver have to be to cruise on the interstate in 2nd gear at like 6000rpms for an extended period of time?? They deserve to burn their cars up and the manufacturer shouldn't have any liability.

One of the Firsts February-28th-2006 09:39 AM

Hello all,
Just thought I would say hello and become possibly the first (see screen name) Mazda 5 owners on this site. I look forward to the many chats, pics, and mods in the future. One of the things that I am most interested in is adding Sirius without spending $1200 from the dealer. So if anyone knows where I might find some info that would be great. I also plan on adding a remote start system, but info still isn't available from DEI yet, either. Oh well, winter is almost over here.

Oh yeah, I bought a Cardinal Red Mica Sport w/ AT and the popular equipment package. So far, only got it last night, I love the way the car drives. It is fun, handles well, and pretty good pick up.

One of the main things the recall did was to force the vehicle into another gear after a few seconds. The re-flash also raised the RPM fluxuation from 50 to 150 when you drove it on the redline.
