Clunking from left rear side?
 

My "5" has this annoying clunking coming from the right rear side that occurs whenever and wherever. Temperature has no bearing at all. The only thing that's strange is that it stops if the roads are wet, or it's raining. This leads me to believe that it's a bushing on the stabilizer. I'm going to spray it with some teflon/silicon and see what happens. To date I've read of no permanate fix for this on ANY site I've visited. All that dealers seem to do is replace them, only to have it continue. I'm a mechanic and am pretty miffed that after 2 years of ownership this problem hasn't been rectified yet.

Well, that frigg'n cleared up all my questions?????? What the hell was that mess? Anyway, as I stated previously I sprayed the bushings with a good quality teflon lube (Dupont goes on wet and dries) and it seems to work.

Have your dealer look at the following TSB.

It may not be relevant, but the left rear shock on my 2007 Mazda3 blew a seal
and was replaced under warranty at 12,500 miles.

Can you explain me what is Mazda5 ?

I've got the same problem on my 07 MS3. It's a loose rattle/vibration whenever I go over bumbs from the rear of the car. I've exhausted almost all possibilities except the suspension. Did you end up getting it fixed?

I figured mine out. Turns out it was the rear swaybar had worked it's way lose on the right (non-drive) side of the car. I took the nut off, put some red locktite on the bolt and tightened it up again and have no problems since.

Could be the trailing arm busings. They wear out, but not that fast. If under warranty, have it check out. Hope this helps! Cheers!

The bushings are the actually issue, they wear out and cause the knocking sound, we replace them and cover them in lubricant. Hopefully for your sake they don't wear out soon as that loctite is gunna make it a real PITA.
