Speed Chip?
Has anyone ever bought one of those speed and hp chips for their 3? Did it help at all?
|
You're talking about the e-bay chips???
Use the search button and then hang around the forum more often, it'll save you from wasting your money on stupid crap. |
I agree with that.

Agreed. Just don't waste money on too much stuff on eBay for your car. If you're looking for quick horsepower always remember quick fixes aren't always the best options. If you don't have the time or money to do something right the first time then there's no reason to believe you'll have it when that cheap part craps out on you. Alot of bolt on parts for intake and exhaust will give you more power than you think. Most cars on the road today are so choked from the factory and just a little breathing room will work wonders on your ride.

If you're willing to do it right, get the Cobb AP. http://cobbtuning.com

Would that work for a regular Mazda 3 or just the Speed 3?

Second Q: there isn't much difference between the CAI's that use mandarel steel, and the same basic design employed by K&N and Magnaflow, among other brands. They all use the same materials and basic design, but play around with the angle of the curves in the pipe, etc. If you're a brand name type person, the Magnaflows, et al, sound pretty good and do the job. I think it's a worthwhile after-market modification, but not in terms of HP-MPG per $ spent. It's just good to help the engine breathe better, as well as a header and free flow cat-back exhaust. |
