Ditto. I bought an intake off a forum member last summer, and it was in great condition. After all it really is just a pipe. I don't see how others can charge upwards of $250 for it.

Get a used intake and just buy a new filter for it if you're unsure of it's condition.

Concerning weight, yeah strip it down to make it as light as possile. For the parts you can't do without, i.e. hood and wheels, carbon fiber hood and lightweight rims would reduce the weight while adding to the aesthetic at the same time.

Yea basically what these other guys said. Find out what your goal is and what your looking for overall, then take it from there. Give you an example I just recently got a 3(hatch) and my plans are to slowly build her up. :) Since she is my daily driver I'm not going to go all balls out........yet. I'm starting off with the basics, Springs, Sway bar, front Strut bar, then after I get her dynoed(stock) I'll add on I/H/E. :blue:

I sure appreciate all the help everyone is giving me. All info will be put to good use. Oh and Matty I have been looking at the event and will have to check my schedule closer to the event but I am dying to go. I want my car to be a sleeper. I don't want to do any mods that aren't functional if you know what I mean. I know it looks cool but no body kit for me. I will have to get the camera out soon and take some shots of her to post.

my setup is more setup for ease of use and some performace gain.

I have an 02 pro lx and put an Injen CAI on it - I've seen some decent MPG gains and have seen my ability to hit the gas go up more (cause it sounds so good) as well decreasing the MPG gains. Then I went to work on the trans - short shifter, kartboy bushings, to make it very responsive. Hopefully by this Saturday i'll have my Teins on it and that should make a good upgrade to the handling - and throwing my back out from the pot holes in jersey.

Modding is kinda all up to what your end result wants to be - handling? power? As a rule I use everytime I get the modding bug - whats your wallet say? then what does your wife say? that usually ends it.

Just look for the big guy talking louder than everyone else. I'm 6'4" 270...kinda hard to miss. I'm always wearing a mazda shirt or hat as well.

If my mom hadn't come down to visit from ohio this weekend I would be there to check it out. Some other time though. It is great to get to see her again. Her first trip down here to visit me
