I have a 2003 Mazda 3 hatchback and just recently we started having an issue with it. It is automatic but can be put into manual. I went to leave for work in the morning a couple days ago and turned the car on and I couldn’t get it to shift to reverse. I tried turning the car off and turning it back on and that didn’t help. I was pushing on the brake as far as it could go and it wouldn’t shift. I eventually go it to shift to reverse so I could back out of the driveway. My significant other had the same issue yesterday too. It only happens when you are trying to start the car the first time for the day. The day I had an issue and went to leave work it shifted to reverse just fine. However. My signifcant others dad said there is a little piece on the shifter part that you can take off and there is a hole there and told him to stick a pen or something in there and it shifted to reverse when he did that. His dad said maybe it could be a bad fuse or something. Does anyone have any idea on what the issue is?
