Hass Turbo Kit

Anyone familiar and/or used this turbo kit for their 3. Not trying to hate on our hiboost boys.

no havent heard anything about this one but looks pretty good.

well just a couple observations:
- Tubular turbo manifold, non equal-length runners. Manifold could be weak, have poor quality welds, etc. Of course, it could be really nice too. I just expect that there'd be more 'known' about it if that were the case.
- The intercooler piping path is really long, but I guess with a turbo mounted behind the engine, there's only so much you can do. I'm not sure how HiBoost does it.
- The oil lines.. are crap, plain and simple. It looks like barb fittings that you are supposed to slide a braided steel line on and then use a hose clamp on?? that's pretty ghetto, and I wouldn't trust it for a minute.
- The Haltech that hiboost includes is a much better unit than the greddy from what I've read.
- "Factory Porsche 911 Twin Turbo BOV" --um, BOVs are illegal pretty much everywhere.. so uh yeah what?
- The couplers and clamps should be ok. I use a torque-limiting extremely heavy duty clamp on my couplers (not all of them.. still working on that) but they were like 15 bucks a piece so I can see why they wouldn't include them.
- looks like the FMIC is bar & plate from what I can tell in the pictures.. but who knows.
- They don't even claim that the manifold is stainless, and the fact that they sell an optional coating tells me that it probably isn't.

Plus there's still plenty of money to be spent. If you're using the greddy OR a haltech, you need a wideband for tuning (most shops have a probe they can use if you took it somewhere to be tuned). There's $300. You'll have to get the oil return fitting welded to your oil pan, if that is even at all appropriate for the Mazda3. I know on the Protege the oil pan is shallow, so only if the return fitting is mounted precisely at the top edge of the pan will it work properly.

Illegal in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and Australia for emissions reasons, the same reason a crankcase vent is illegal.. oil vapors and other unwanted emissions.

Of course my sources might have generalized and there may be some states where they're legal.

Haas is no more...as far as I know my brother got one of the last of their kits for his corolla. I spent 4 months re-fabbing half of the crap on it.

turbokits.com is garbage and I wouldn't give them a penny of my money.

You've got to pay to play.

If you skimp out on quality FI you'll just be paying in another area down the road.
