Fuel pump!!!!!!

Hello Guys,,,,,
Someone told me that fuel pump should be changed every 2 years,,,,and it will be broken after 2 years since I bought my car.....is that right????

I think you better stop listening to that someone !!!

Ummm yea .. that's a lie. This person wouldn't happen to be a local mechanic trying to convince you to get some work done when you don't really need it now would he?! Fuel pumps are designed to either last the whole lifetime of the car, or really damn close to it. Even if it does go out, it should last you at least 80K or so if you don't use garbage gasoline.

Either way, that's the worst advice I've ever heard anyone give out. I would make sure to not talk to the certain someone ever again.

Wow seriously, thats just messed up. someone should take that guy out and shoot him :uzi:

I asked about that and I heard a reasonable expalnation,,,,,fuel pump won't be broken till one of these reasons happened:
1- If the fuel tank is % 90-80 is empty and the pump is hot becaus of a long driving,,,and the driver filled the car with a cold fuel. So the pumpl will start to die!!!,,because of the effect of the cold fuel to the hotness of the pump.
2-SOOOOOOOOOOOOO dirty fule....not just dirty...sooooooo dirty.....

Oh, man.

People have burned out their fuel pumps with as much as 1/2 a tank of fuel during extreme track conditions. Otherwise, yeah you'd have to drive around with the low fuel light on all the time to burn it out. It is cooled by the fuel after all.
