Exhaust swap...stock for speed

So i went to my MAZDA dealership today to get my CD changer fixed and i was talking to the girl that was helping me and we were talking about the SPEED3 and she was telling me that instead of going aftermarket I can get the SPEED3 exhaust and intake, ect installed on my regular 3 and have warranty...

this sounds like a good deal but what is the benefit of upgrading to SPEED3 parts rather than other aftermarket exhausts such as magnaflow or intakes like injen?

Does anybody have this already done and can tell me the HP and TORQUE gains?

thanx

i think its more of a waste of money.. aftermarket will be more of an upgrade and it will be cheaper!

exhaust

I have an 05 atx hatch and i had three different exhaust and although the magnaflow sounded nice it lacked the low end performance as did the racing beat which was loud and expensive to me. I now have the ms3 stock exhaust and it's a bit drony if that's what you call it but deffinetly best upgrade I've done so far. I can actually feel the butt perfomance into 2nd. Better gas mileage and smoother through the higher rpms. Imo. I haven't tried it with the ms cai yet cuz I felt the low end power loss there too with my stock exhaust but I'll get to it soon. Hope this helps. Al

My feeling on this would be the following:

Speed3 is a turbocharged car. Mazda 3 is not.

Therefore, the Speed3 exhaust is designed to run with a turbocharged exhaust setup. Backpressure is an important aspect of a cars performance and proper exhaust flow. So, I would tend to think an exhaust designed for a turbo car would not work optimally on a non-turbo car (i.e. not designed for the backpressure, etc. of the regular 3).

I'd say you're better off purchasing an exhaust specifically designed to run on your regular 3, which will probably net the best performance gains (although that's debatable) and at the very least is made to work specifically with your engine.

ms3 exhaust

First, after market exhaust are more exspensive then the ms3 exhaust. I know cause i had racing beat and magnaflow. 2nd, I lost performance on the low end side due to lack of back pressure. This was told to me by many exhaust specialist including, Magnaflow. As far as the ms3 , it has an additional resonator. They're all straight through designs, but I know I felt gains from the ms3. Just hate the inside drone but so does the racingbeat and others from what Ive heard.
