2014 MAZDA 3 transmission problem

Hello all, My wife's 3 is having transmission problems. The dealership wants to replace it. They gave me 3 options. 1. replace it with a new transmission $5600.00 12 month 12k mile warrenty, 2. reman with 12 month 12k mile warrenty for $3700.00 or 3. a used trans , no warrenty for $3400.00. Question is, are these prices normal? Do the 3's have a problem with their transmissions? Wife's car has 80k miles (most of it highway miles as she makes lots of road trips). Problem she has experienced is rubbing sounds and the transmission changing gears for no reason along with lurching at the shift. Mind you this just started 3 days ago . I drove the car last week and experienced no problems what so ever.

Transmission Problem: Me, Too

Threat, I don't know whether transmission problems are "normal" for the 2014 Mazda-3. In fact, in searching for complaints online, I didn't come up with anything. But I can report that "I" am having a problem with the transmission.

Within a couple of months after buying a new model, I noticed that the gears seemed loose. In the coming months, the problem got worse, and the car exhibited little jerks between gear shifts.

During the 1st test drive, a dealership technician "didn't feel anything"--despite obvious hesitations. After a 2nd test drive, the technician at another dealership said the problem was too "insignificant" to warrant a repair & that he wouldn't know how to repair it in any event, since there was no technical bulletin on the matter. About 4 weeks later, the transmission got stuck in 2nd gear, and the car had to be towed.

Mazda now "says" the dealership repaired the problem. But the gears still feel loose to me when I start the car up an incline. . . sometimes even I'm driving on a flat surface. In fact, the gears feel just like they did before the transmission developed jerking.

From what I have read, Mazda-3 is a good car. But there is another safety issue with this car which keeps me from driving it. This Company is certainly not accommodating when it produces a lemon.

Good luck, replacing the transmission at a good price.

3 transmission

So, I would recommend that you go back to the dealership and start raising hell to get the transmission replaced if it is still under warrenty. I ended up having mine replaced with a used transmission for 1600 dollars. Mazda refused to replace it under warrenty or help me what so ever. The 3 maybe a safe car, but the automatic transmissions are **** in my opinion.I will never buy another one.
