Cleaning the tops of the pistons and valves?
So I was curious, what the inside of my cylinders looked like. So I bought a cheap $8 endoscope on ebay, and this is what i found:
That looks like a LOT of build up. The car runs fine, again, it's more of a precautionary thing. My questions are though, what am i risking here, with them in this condition? What should i do to remedy the situation? Do i need to completely remove the heads and scrub them clean (piston heads and valves likely as well?) Thanks |
Fairly normal; I would just leave it. You can try RED-X or similar upper cylinder head lubricants as it may clean it up a bit; but don't overuse it as on a modern engine you risk clogging the catalytic convertor.
