Hey what about getting water in the CAI, what is the percentage chance that will happn if driving on a very rainy day

MZ3SPORTRUE May-26th-2010 07:34 AM

hey! imo im going with a short ram, because i dont even wanna risk getting water sucked up in it! im gonna get a Cosmo Racing SRI! http://www.cosmoracing.com/productin...d=143&pid=1098 ive heard nothing but good things! only potential problem is that obviously intakes suck in a lot of air, so if you live in really high temperatures your gonna suck in alot of hot hair, so its kinda defeating the purpose! :dunce:

I'm not sure where you live, but the Injen intake is smog legal in California. They also sell a wrap that goes around the filter to keep water out. Best intake on the market, IMO. :)

I personally like SRI's, they produce a better sound. If you want a little more performance wise...go with a cold air. Injen makes a "Hydro Guard" thats a real fine mesh to wrap around the filter, tell you what...it's a little expensive for the mesh but worth the piece of mind. My CD7 Accord sucked in water because I thought the guard was worthless, I killed cyl#1.

hey 05mazda3s, what kinda sri u got?

lowrange93 June-8th-2010 02:26 PM

My wife has an AEM intake with an AEM bypass valve. It wasnt very expensive (~150 for the intake+valve) on ebay... She drives it year-round in PA weather and has had no issues with water/etc.

MZ3SPORTRUE June-8th-2010 02:28 PM

could you find me that link to where she bought or a link like it? cuz that is one HECK of a deal! 150 for aem intake + bypass, wow!

^^LOL, I bought the intake about 2 years ago on ebay for $100 buy-it-now shipped from a kid who had bought it brand new, never installed it, and got rid of the car. The bypass valve was 40 or so shipped (don't remember exactly). It was definitely a deal on the intake, sorry I can't point you in the direction of a seller

The best I can say is to check ebay religiously, those deals pop up now and then, you just gotta be ready to hop on em!

MZ3SPORTRUE June-8th-2010 03:53 PM

good looks, ima have to do that lol

I have a Fujita F5 SRI, you can not find them anymore but there are still a few floating around out there

go on ebay mang. literally hundreds. might i suggest NOT getting a short ram? they just suck in hot engine air. cai is the way to go. and dont worry about water getting in it, its nearly impossible. but DO realize that your puddle splashing days are over....

K&N's cold air intake has a shield on it to prevent water and debris from gettin in the filter. Not the cheapest but IMO they do make a nice product. They claim it also adds somethin like 25 horsepower right off the bat. Its on my short list of mods to make. :violin:

gron July-16th-2010 05:21 PM

25 hp is clearly a lie. sri or cai, its impossible.
