2007 mazda 3 noise while driving

bought this car for my daughter 6 mos ago. it is automatic. it has 139000 miles. it looks and runs great. i purchased new tires when i bought it due to a noise i thought were from the old mismatch tires that were on the car. the new tires did not get rid of the noise while driving. it sounds like a rotating humming noise that starts at 15mph and continues until you come to a stop. is it axle? drive train? pully? belts? what is it? i cant tell if its in front or back. does anybody have any ideas?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Is it only under 15MPH or does it happen at all speeds? Could be a wheel bearing which is not uncommon and does sound like cupped tires...

Front Wheel Bearing: When driving the vehicle swerve left & right, if the sound changes tone its a good indication of a front wheel bearing, if you cannot pin point what side the noise is coming from follow the Rear wheel bearings steps!

Rear Wheel Bearing: Jack the vehicle up, grab the tire at 3 & 9 o'clock and lightly move back and forth, their shouldn't be any play... if there is play that is a good indication of faulty wheel bearing.

Note: If checking play on the front wheels it can also indicated loose tie rods, to further pin point the play have someone grab the inner tie rod, then the outer tie rod... if the play stops while they are holding one of the tie rods that part is loose and needs to be replaced.

If your still unable to find the problem I recommend taking it to mechanic, if its wheel bearing they can easily check with a hoist & stethoscope :)

Hope this helps!

Braden
