2005 mazda 3 2.0 starting problems!!!

I've recently been having problems starting my mazda. Sometimes it starts and idles really low for a second then shuts off and then will start fine. Other times it takes 5 to 10 seconds for it to turn over and runs fine. Then other times it starts perfectly fine. I brought it to a local garage and they changed the spark plugs and thats not the problem. I brought it again today and they cleaned the throttle body, and said they cant find anything mechanically wrong with it! It seems to be getting worse and taking longer and longer to start and mainly seems to happen when the engine is cold. Has anyone experienced a similiar problem or have any idea what could possibly be wrong?

Thanks
Mike

i'd vote for a fuel delivery issue, if there's a leak (internal) the system can loose pressure when sitting and end up pumpong air when you first try to start up. If this is the case, you may improve results by leaving the key in run for a second before starting up to let the fuel system pressurize.

could also have poor compression - which would make for harder starts when cold.

pcm re-flash , update for frozen main relay should help . If you have not had a pcm flash (reprogram) before ..there are several updates for the vehicle

I am having a similar problem with my '08 Mazda 3. Most of the time it starts fine but occasionally it just will not start. I've taken it back to Mazda for repair 3 times and they insist they can find nothing wrong with it, which I think is because the car is still under warranty. I will never buy another Mazda.
