Why would the Valves tap
Today while driving to work I noticed that my valves were tapping. So directly after work I took the car to have the oil changed. Since new the car has had Mobil synthetic oil put into it and the car just hit 9k miles. Can anyone tell me why the valves would be tapping? I would have taken the car back to the dealership but ,#1the service Depatment is now closed and, #2 the dealership I bought the car from Stopped selling Mazda's 2 weeks after I bought the car from them and no longer performs service work on Mazda's. Is it safe form me to drive the car "lightly" till Monday? It would be great if someone could give me some insight this is killing me!:smileysho
Thank you! |
What weight of oil did you put in. I have a 2.3 and put in 5-20W Mobil 1 Full Synthetic for over 10K miles and havent had problems.

Over 36K with 5W-20 Mobil1 full synthetic and no problems
Car is warranty right? Take to the nearest dealer. Let them figure it out |
it's probably not the valves tapping but another noise...duratec tends to have noisy injectors

yup, injector clicking is common. If it's a speed3 then it's the DI firing.

Did this noise just show up? Is it LOUD? If so, it could be a real problem, not just injectors. |
