what have you done to your 3 today??

alright, exactly like the other thread in the protege section....
i think the title says it all...
what have you done to your mazda3 today??

dentinger June-11th-2007 08:48 PM

ok, since no one else is replying, i will then....

today, i picked up my Fujita CAI
woot! hopefully going in tomorow!!

jzoomer June-11th-2007 09:18 PM

well i took some pics of mine today lol i know that doesnt count.....but still this thread needed some love lol ill post something as soon as i get some money lol

TriggArisE June-12th-2007 04:36 AM

ordered vibrant headers =]

dentinger June-12th-2007 11:04 AM

nice!!
pm me about them when you get them installed. i was talking to a guy who wants to get them, but is afraid they would be too loud...

oh, and i installed my CAI today!
wasnt that hard.... just a bit of a pain getting the air box resonator off. took me (and 2 friends) about an hour and a half to do it

TriggArisE June-12th-2007 06:22 PM

will it really be that much louder than just my exaust alone? will it be annoying loud? or will it sound good..?

dentinger June-12th-2007 08:31 PM

i dunno, i was asking u for ur opinion,
but my friend, (who wants to install them) said they make the exhaust louder, apparently...

but i tihnk i want a set of headers now too :P

oh, and if you find them too loud, can i have first dibs on them?? :P
and how much u pay for them, i read $590 on the vibrant website

J-Protege June-12th-2007 08:38 PM

Not annoying, but yes louder. Not as loud as a catback, but you should be able to hear it.
Makes the engine sound mean, not like a civic, haha.

jzoomer June-12th-2007 09:02 PM

now i want one.... dangit too expensive and plus emissions here are strict

dentinger June-13th-2007 09:13 AM

i want one just as long is at does cause my CEL to come on....
it says it comes with a relocation spot for it....
but i think if i got the headers, id get a high flow cat too, just to complete the exhaust

TriggArisE June-15th-2007 12:50 AM

Good that it wont sound like a civic. im so tired of hearing those things, i made sure when i did my exaust it didnt rattle around or vibrate, it just sounds smooth. hopefully better with the headers.

Oh and dentinger, i payed 485 for them, shipping was free, thanks to protege garage:)

Buy a good set, and they are equipped to correct the problem that trips the code. If you buy no-name ebay, you might be stuck with a check engine.

Go with Gary (kargoboy) and his Thunder Headers, or headers off the Protege Garage (Ken).

TriggArisE June-15th-2007 04:07 PM

man its gonna take forever for those headers to get here. they get to protege garage on 7/7! THEN they ship to me. ughh im not gonna be able to take it, i want them!

dentinger June-18th-2007 02:58 PM

yay! installed a blue LED light in my glovebox, now it glows blue at night when i open it!!

akaveli June-18th-2007 04:45 PM

finish installing my F2 CAI. HHmm...I have mixed feelings whether or not I like it. first off the install was a pain in the ass! Second, I'm not sure if I like the sound the 3 intakes make compared to the protege CAI. Third, I notice loss in low end and gains in high end. So...hhmm....

3GFX June-19th-2007 06:38 AM

I was bored this week and I don't have the money saved up yet for springs so I got under the car and installed some JDM yellow fog light bulbs :p

dentinger June-19th-2007 11:13 AM

haha, i thought i recognized ur screenname!!
welcome to the forum :D

akaveli June-19th-2007 04:23 PM

threw a CEL lastnight and had to recheck my CAI. Reset the ECU and converted my CAI to a SRI. :(

_Kansei_ June-19th-2007 06:09 PM

Do you like the way it sounds as a SRI better?

Not really. Under 3k I can't hear anything but the engine but once i'm over 3.5rpms I hear the intake. Overall I am not pleased with this F2 intake even though they said its the best CAI for the 3. It produces the most whp since its a 3inch piping. I'm considering buying an MS CAI or an ingen.

_Kansei_ June-19th-2007 08:50 PM

I'd go for the MS since oem-ish stuff is always nice :)

yea i'm leaning towards that too. I just checked out PG and how much they was asking for it. So within a couple of weeks that will be my next purchase....right after I get my exhaust installed and order my HID fogs. :)

J-Protege June-20th-2007 06:03 AM

How does Gary's Simota stack up to the MS CAI? Might be a cheaper alternative if they're the same product.

akaveli June-20th-2007 05:04 PM

I gave my F2 Intake the finger today.

jzoomer June-20th-2007 05:05 PM

NICE how much HP did you gain from that one ive been thinking about that one myself for a while......lol

J-Protege June-20th-2007 05:19 PM

An intake won't give you much HP to brag about, only a few to the wheels. However, it gives a bit better mpg, a real nice sound, and will really help the car breathe for future mods like a turbo.

jzoomer June-20th-2007 05:21 PM

ha ha i should have explained better...i ment how many HP did he gain after giving his cai the finger lol

J-Protege June-20th-2007 05:24 PM

Hahaha, oh geez.

akaveli June-20th-2007 06:25 PM

I gain 4 days worth of headaches. So I'm sure that is equals to 4whp.

jzoomer June-20th-2007 06:57 PM

that is around what i was thinkin lol

akaveli June-20th-2007 07:01 PM

man this blows! If I knew this was going to happen I would have stayed with the stock intake. LoL

jzoomer June-20th-2007 07:02 PM

what is the prob with it

TriggArisE June-20th-2007 11:26 PM

get K&n typhoon intake. ive never had a CEL it sounds good, never had a problem with it

J-Protege June-21st-2007 02:12 AM

Ask Gary (kargoboy) about his intakes. They should have the right piping size, and way cheaper than anywhere (except ebay, but that's risky).

I would have bought his if I had known what I could get for ~$100ish bucks, rather than this $300+ Injen.

dentinger June-27th-2007 08:54 PM

hehe, i hit 10,000km's today!!!

jzoomer June-27th-2007 11:03 PM
