Is it time for these fluid changes?
I'm driving a 2010 Mazda 3 i-touring and it (get ready) already has 38,000 miles on it.
Does anyone recommend any of the following be done, now
I don't know if my automatic transmission fluid is something that is not supposed to be changed "ever" or is it sealed or something or does it need it only after many more miles. The dealer wanted me to do their 30,000 mile maintenance which was basically a checkup with a coolant change for almost 500.00. Thanks, for your advice |
there is no timeline on the trans fluid, not sure why, but i'd do it the same time as the coolant - which is at 60k minimum or 4 years, maybe 120k depending on the coolant used.
fuel filter... no recommendation in the manual there either, I wouldn't worry unless you see a dip in mileage or some other issue. Then again it doesn't hurt. For reference. https://www.mymazda.com/MusaWeb/pdf/..._Mazda3_MS.pdf |
Okay, thanks for the help
I think I'll wait till later this summer '11 to get the coolant and tranny fluid changed. Now, I gotta start thinking if I should go synthetic on the tranny fluid or not?

Yeah, no reason to do the coolant or ATX at this point. IIRC the recommendation in the manual is 60k for both. You probably don't need to flush for your first coolant change, just a drain and fill should be fine. You can always drain, fill, run, drain, fill, run, etc. and you'll end up swapping a large percentage of the old fluid. The intermediate fills you can do with water so you won't waste antifreeze. Same goes for the ATX, though you shouldn't pour water in there. lol Both are things you can do yourself if you have some ramps or rackstands and somewhere to work on the car.
For the fuel filter I'm pretty sure the filter is on the pump which is inside the gas tank. Would likely be ridiculous to get it out. |
So helpful thanks
Yea, late summer or mid-fall should be good for these. Thanks
