I recently installed a Cosmo Racing SRI on my 06 Mazda 3 hatchback. But I'm finding that the idle runs ruff at times (not all the time). I've checked the hose connection and MAF (even cleaned the MAF with the appropriate cleaner) and it still can idle ruff with a bounce in rpms as low as 300. Interesting enough, I reinstalled the oem air box and all runs fine.
I would think that here can't be much difference between the SRIs brands. It comes with a K&N type filter that requires oiling, and I made sure that I didn't over oil.
So, is there a learning period for the ecu to get used to the SRI, and how long does that take?? Any other ideas on what is going on??

Is this SRI specifically designed for the Mazda 3 and engine you have?

It is my belief that SRI/CAI designed for a car are the only ones I trust. Ebay cheap ones you can run the risk of issues. I installed the Mazdaspeed Cold Air Intake on my 2003 Mazda 6i and had no issues or Check Engine Lights since it was designed for the car.

Did you disconnect the battery before installing the SRI?

My installation instructions recommended this so that the ECU would re-set and learn with the intake installed. I had no rough idle issues, etc. That's the only suggestion I can give. If you do disconnect it be careful.

I just had my Simota SRI installed today with a bunch of other more significant things. On the way home, my car did the same thing you describe, but it seemed to stop after a while. I'm guessing in my case it was the ECU learning the new setup. I'll have to see if it does it anymore.

Disconnect your positive terminal wire from the battery for 30 min. then Re-connect the wire. This should fix the issue. It happened to my 3 also. A master tec. gave me the info... worked for me!

That's a good idea. Mine seemed to relearn just fine without the ECU reset, though. I never happened again after those few times immediately after getting the intake installed.

I'm realizing the problem I'm experiencing is more than the SRI and resetting the ECU. I reinstalled the oem air box, and now I'm getting a CEL quite frequently. After every time I reset the ECU, the CEL will go away after starting and driving the car for the first time. However, the CEL pops on after the 2nd time I'm starting and driving the car. Very weird and it is now doing it consistently. I took it to Mazda today. I'll post any new info when I receive it.

I thought cold air intake would be better than SRI.
The SRI should connect it with turbo. oh well I'm not sure
because I just got pullOVER, and I have to take everything back
to normal :(

AAAAAAAAAAH HAAAAAAAA!!!!
I had a bad oxygen sensor which had nothing to do with the sri install. The OS wiring had frayed causing a short and self destruction.
The Cosmo SRI has been reinstalled and the car is running grrrrrrrreat!!!!!
All is well.

Let that be a note to all 3 owners the engine cover tends to sag and rub through the harness, causing o2 & crank sensor faults , ck ,repair, tape up , push harness down , away from cover . After it rubs through, crank & o2 wires get crossed by the cover touching & when wet ,the water connects the 2.
