Speed Limiter Mazda 3

I just joined this forum and want to see if anyone knows about Mazda putting a "Speed Limiter" into the Canadian cars...I have a GFX package sedan.

At about 180kph, the car loses power. The mechanic at my shop said he was going to check with Mazda Canada.

Also, does anyone know how to disable it, if this is the case.

there is a speed limiter
approximately at 190kmph (~118MPH).....

its in the 3rd gen proteges 1.8L too..... basically it cuts out then gains back up after u've dropepd liek 10kmph.....

right now i dunt think anyone knows of a way to disable the limiter.... would be cool tho if someone could find out....

you shouldnt be driving that fast on public roads.

That said there probably are chips or a way to reprogram the computer to dissable it but i doubt the dealer will support you in that endevor.

hahaha, 118mph is funny! That's like cruising speed here on the Alabama Super Speedway (I-459).

The AEM will bypass that.

188 kph as per my dealer rep

Until someoen comes out with a new ECU program that will be able to crack the original one you'll have to wait. It can take a year before we see that btw.

AEM has nothing to do with top speed limiters. It's in the ECU of the engine so once your speedo gets to 188 kpm the engine cuts....only thing with the AEM is that you might get to it faster and with a nicer sound but your engine will cut at the same speed.

He's not talking about the AEM intakes, he's talking about the AEM ECU for our cars.

Thanks for that rolleye......

Well excuse me sir for not being "in the news" of the protege cars and board....maybe that's why I frequent another board....and I read only the Mazda 3 forum here....you protege guys here are so friendly...:asshole: :barf:

And talking about our car in the forum for the 3 is a bit confusing for a non protege owner....so much tolerance here...thanks for the warm welcome.

That rolleye like I was such a moron talking about AEM CAI in the 3 forum knowing that it's the only AEM part for the 3 right now didn't take too long to figure out...that condescending reply of yours is frankly stupid.

Wow, chill out man. Sure, I was being a little sarcastic, but really, who would try to say a CAI is going to bypass a speed limiter? We're pretty easy going around here, although name calling and stuff isn't the best way to get off to a great start on your end either.:(

That was my point. A CAI has nothing to do with a speed limiter. How do I know the guy I'm replying knows his stuff? I don't so I replied. no rolleyes or sarcastic comment.

Well sorry but you are not the first guy that I saw doing this to others....This time it was me and I got fired up. Sure. Maybe too much. For that I apologize. But I don't accept being treated like I'm a moron with sarcastic remarks.

The rolleye in your answer makes the difference between enlighting me in a cool way or being sarcastic....sorry but sarcastic is not my way of being easy with someone. Bah anyway. This is a stupid argument.
