Speed Governor must Die!

So I was driving down highway 101 and I decided to top out my car. So I got to 117mph in 4th gear and the governor cut the power for a second so I shifted into 5th to see what would happen and the car just held 117mph...

My question is does anybody know how to override the governor?

My car is a n 06' 3 HB 2.3L does anybody know what the engine iscapable of without the governor in effect?

So what your saying is a 117mph isn't fast enough for you?

krazyk86cu January-16th-2009 12:06 AM

talk about voiding your warranty... lol

I am wondering the samething. I have an 05 HB 2.3L with an auto. And I get the samething the power cuts out at around 120. How can you disable the governor?

Axelaspeed February-7th-2009 05:57 PM

i dont that thats possible unless you get a piggy back system

Zoom 3GT February-8th-2009 05:24 PM

120 isn't fast enough? u racing?

3hundred27 February-9th-2009 10:40 PM

lol where on 101 did you do it?

Currently there isn't a computer chip for a mazda 3 out right now... :(

But theres Cobb Tuning for the Speed 3... anyone know if that works with the regular?

stoney053 March-8th-2009 05:37 PM

Try Jetchip.com they have some new upgrades

Need an ECU tune or piggyback system to disable top speed limiter. Though on a speed 3 it doesnt kick in until 155... :FIREdevil

Cobb port tuner

There is a device called the Cobb tuning Access Port Tuner. You can remove your speed limiter with this and no you do NOT need a piggy back system to do this once you program it, the system can be unplugged and your settings will stay,But there is a catch.....It only works on the North American models. You just connect it to your OBD-II port. Hope this helps.;peace;

SuperProtege5 March-11th-2009 11:45 PM

has it been proven to work with N/A 3's? Last I saw and read about was that the AccessPort was only available for Speed3's

+1

I'm pretty sure you can download maps for the N/A model

And your signature says " drive it like you stole it " means no faster than 45 mph?

Come on man, why would you even ask that kind of question?

There is a way how to turn it off, just need to know which wire to cut that connects in to TB and there you go, no speed limit :)

I don't need it myself, since I have a Speed3 and go plenty fast (Also have a Cobb AP for my RX-8, just gotta get the Speed3 maps), BUT do you know which wire that would be for reference?

I'm sure some of the regular 3 peeps would love to know. Plus, it's just good info to share.

I don't know but im about to buy a cable with software that will remove the speed limit on my '08 MZ3 2.0L engine ECU

mondospeed3 July-5th-2013 09:49 PM

the limiter hit at 117 on my 10'. Scared the poo outa me. Cant wait to find out where it is on my new one...I'll needing a cobb chip..

Setoniukas July-8th-2013 01:02 PM

You can't find it unless you get a tune and with that you will be able to retune your cars ECU and it will allow you to pass the speed limit :-)

If you ask me that's pretty slow. Me personally I go 160mph down the highway. When I'm on the track my car can reach 300mph

Rev/speed governor delete project for Mazda.

Hi I'm working on testing a piggie back module that's currently giving great results in fuel economy and performance. Even though we are almost done with saftey reliability tests, once complete looks like it would be capable to turn off rev/ speed limiters on vehicle. Will post soon on results, and availability of device for U.S.
