request button for hatch back won't work
 

I just recently purchased a 2010 Mazda 3 hatch back 5spd. On a couple of occasions I was leaving the grocery store and wanted to put parcels in back, but when I pushed the hatch back request button nothing happened. Again today, I pushed the request button several times and nothing. There is nowhere to put a key, no button on the remote, is there any other way of opening the hatch when the request button doesn't work? Any help would be much appreciated

Think I figured it out... Request button is not broken. I was trying to open hatch while car doors were locked. I noticed that if I unlock all doors beforehand, the request button works fine. I was comparing with my RX-8 where the request buttons work whether doors are locked or not.
