Noises from clutch and axle

Everytime I release the clutch on a hill or if the car doesn't seem to have enough engine power to start the car from a stop, I hear a clicking noise on the driver side wheel. The clutch also makes spring rusting noises, don't know how that happen as well. What could be the problem and does anyone else experience the same problems.

My car was bought brand new. My car now has 16500k miles and 9.5 months old. It has a history of problems. My intake manifold was bad (10000k miles), evaporation pump leaking (14000k miles). now I am hearing uncomfortable noises (16000k miles). What should I do or what can I do? Will mazda give me another car?

Sorry I cannot help you diagnose your particular issue, but I have related problems with noises coming from the front suspension as well. My car doesn't even have 10k on it and the dealer told me on two occassions that since they couldn't simulate the sounds on a test drive, there was nothing they could do. One noise kind of reminds me of the sounds a stretched spring would make if you plucked it like a guitar string. This usually only happens from a cold start or a dead stop. The other noise was a high-pitched squeal that I thought at first was a warning tone from the DSC telling me I was taking the corners too fast while braking too hard (thought it was coming from behind the instrument cluster or steering column, but it could be a sound from the front brake). If any of your noises sound like this, and you do figure out what it is, let me know. Likewise, I'll keep on it and see what I can find out on my end and let you know.

Hmm .. how funny I come across this thread. I just drove my brother's Eclipse GSX and it does the exact same thing. I mean it's kind of an old car and he beats on it all he wants, but it was kinda worrying me. The exact same thing would happen that trixter is describing .. I would let off the clutch and "click" right down under my left foot, but it would shift just fine.

BTW: That car is baaaaaad news!! It's all stock, but that sucker if fast!

Thanks for the feedback, to describe a little better, it sounds like something is slipping from the axle, like two metals clinging each other but once the car starts moving, the sound is gone.
