No idea what Im doing. 2007 2.0 Mazda 3 repair/maintenance question.

Should we keep the old purple Mazda?

My wife's 2007 Mazda 3 (2.0) sedan (automatic), with 117k miles (paid off) needs about $1k worth of motor mounts and suspension work and we are wondering if it's worth keeping?

Repair quote:

Both Axel assembly's

Transmission mount

Motor mounts

Thermostat

Rear lateral links

---

$572 in parts

$546 labor

At $65 an hour

Note: The KBB is only $1400 trade-in or $3k private sale.

We are not mechanically inclined, like, at all. My concern is if we put $1k into it what's to say it'll last long enough to make it worth it?

Those with experience with these cars, would you say we could get to that 200k mark with out any massive issues? Basically, do these cars have any infamous issues after 1xx,xxx miles?

Thanks everyone!

What a find..I just joined this forum. We got our daughter an 07 2.0 and so far I've replaced a shift solenoid, transmission pan, hood latch release cable, and VTCS out of necessity and then, just because of its age, transmission filter and fluid, all 3 motor mounts, rotors and breaks, rear shocks and mounts and this weekend the front struts. Rockauto.com is your friend and you can find best practices for just about every job in these forums.

Thanks for the reply, and that is comforting to hear that these repairs are expected. What mileage is on the car now?

176000 miles right now. Also...if you do need to hire out the work, the quote you got looks reasonable to me.
