No. 3 Engine Mount 2006 Mazda3 2.3

Hey guys,

So the no. 3 engine mount in my mazda has taken a crap and I need to fix it. The dealership is offering to fix it for $198...does anyone know how much the mounts cost so I can fix it myself or is it a better idea to have them do it there. If I am going to fix it does anyone have a step by step on how to tackle this task? I also need a new turbine speed sensor and they want to charge $166 + tax. Give me your thoughts on this I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!!!!

http://finishlineperformance.com/sto...cat=370&page=2 = $85 - the $198 isn't too bad really.
I'm not sure what the procedure is to support the engine when the mount is removed, but as for getting to the bolts its quite straight forward.

Alternately you can add silicone to the gaps in the mount, which would repair it to some extent - depends on the shape of the car otherwise.

Good luck.

I would say do it yourself. But the price they quoted you sounds fair. Mazda did release a revised part with a TSB, so if you're still under warranty it should be covered.

However... from what I have been reading up, it seems like the rubber on the mounts is just too soft and there is a gap between the bushing and brakets.
So even OEM Mazda mounts are junk. I ordered a Beck and Arnley brand one and it just looks like OEM.
I cant tell if its also hydraulic filled like the originals. But I would rather buy the cheaper part and replace it myself if the OEM ones are going to fail again anyway.

There are alot of aftermarket brands for mounts. They are pricey and geared more towards modified engines, or people with a heavy foot.
AWR, CP-e, and Hardrace just to name a few. But I believe those would be best if you plan on keeping the vehicle long.

Replacement is very straight forward. You just need a jack to support the engine while you swap on the mount. Here is more info.

How to replace #3 engine mount

I had the same problem 3 times. I had to get 2 of thm replaced twice because they broke again. Thankfully my warranty authorized the work again because the original shop that worked on them had closed down. However I just had my fuel pump replaced which is expensive. I have learned To order your parts online and pay the shop only labor to install if you can't do it yourself. I ordered from advanced auto parts I had my field pump within two days worked perfectly no problems I would recommend them.
