Con grats, I won't go into detale because I still don't know much about mazdas but Im sure some one here is.

Ebay! Look on Ebay under Mazda 3, I found a chip for under $10 and like $3.50 for shipping. Oh and removing you Air Intake Resonator helps boost performance too, and makes it sound like you have an Intake too, Sporty!

what is the chip gonna do? more hp? how much?

Roddimus Prime October-21st-2004 04:36 PM

whoa...misinformation.

do NOT buy an ebay "resistor chip" they are scams for people who dont what they are doing with cars.

welcome to the forum. "funner" isn't a word but if it was it would be used to describe Mazdas.

This chip is a rip off. DO NOT BUY IT! All it does is make your car run rich and burns up your injectors.

Welcome to the Mazda family. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Yeah, that chip is bad news. Eventually, we might get a real tuned ECU, but we don't have one yet (expect to pay $5-600 for a real one). But until then, pretty much all we've got for our cars are lowering springs and a cold-air intake.

A company called HI-boost is supposedly coming up with a turbo kit that will make 240 hosepower at the wheels, it's supposed to cost $4000 and come with the reprogrammed ECU for the turbo.

If body kits are your style, I know of one I saw in this month's SuperStreet magazine. Can't remember the manufacturer.

And Roddimus tells me he's going to work on either a header or a supercharger for the beast. So you've got some things in the works, but you'll have to wait a while. For now, you'll just have to be happy with a 1.5" drop and an intake.

I also sell postert body kits for the 3 hatch. VERY nice style, probably the best I've ever seen.

I'm hoping to do something big for the 3 (2.0L already has the WOMP) 2.3L. It would be very nice to make an M62-powered 3s if I could find some who does aluminum casting here locally.

Man, I just took a look at those body kits, and they are TIGHT! I'm not even a big fan of body kits, but they look purposeful. That one with the vented hood would be very functional with a turbo.

Oh, I tried your link to www.womp-racing.com or whatever it was on your profile, but it didn't work. Is your website up? I'd really like to see it.

ill hold off on the chip for now. im not into body kits and stuff but my car is the 2.3 I model and it came with the really cool side skirts. how does an intercooler work exactly?

Anarchistchiken October-23rd-2004 02:38 PM

An intercooler is basically a smaller version of your radiator, except instead of coolant, there's air flowing thorugh the fins. The purpose of them is to cool the air from a turbo (which is very hot) so that your engine is more efficient.

just do the basics. IHE, put some progressive springs on and you are good to go.
